Pine Crest vs. Lake Highland / Lake Brantley Invitational Results
Pine Crest went to Orlando this past weekend and defeated Lake Highland Prep in a dual meet and then raced in the Lake Brantley Invitational against the top teams in the state. The Panthers finished 2nd to Bolles in the Lake Brantley Invitational.
Lake Highland Prep has some outstanding swimmers but did not have the depth for the dual meet as Pine Crest increased their dual record to 3-0 for both the boys and girls. However, the power that Lake Highland Prep has will make it a very strong team at the State Championships.
Siena DeVenuto and Thomas Veale led the girls and boys team at the Lake Brantley meet, as Siena won the 200 and 500 free in times that will be the fastest at this time in Broward and Thomas won the 500 free, while placing 5th in the 200 free.
All the relays made the A final at the Lake Brantley meet and the 400 free relays for both the girls and boys finished the meet in a very strong fashion. The 200 Medley Relay was Stephanie Moeller, Nathalie Bijlsma, Ana Rodgriuez, Brittany Hammond; and Marcel Betschardt, Michal Rokita, Thomas Veale, Descartes Holland.
The 200 Free Relay included, Alina Schulhofer, Rebecca Aiello, Stephanie Moeller, Siena DeVenuto; and Gotti Eisenberger, Descartes Hollland, Delaney Brock, Julian Jimenez. The 400 Free Relay was Alina Schulhofer, Rebecca Aiello, Brittany Hammond, Siena DeVenuto; and Marcel Betschardt, Julian Jimenez, Thomas Veale, Gotti Eisenberger.
Alina Schulhofer and Brittany Hammond also scored in the 200 free, along with Siena; while Gotti Eisenberger joined Thomas in scoring in the 200 free. Rebecca Aiello was 3rd in the 200 IM with Mallory McKeon also making the final in the 200 IM. Michal Rokita and Julian Jimenez placed in the 200 IM for the boys. In the 50 free, Stephanie Moeller, Nathalie Bijlsma, scored for
the girls while Descartes Holland placed for the boys. Several Panthers scored in the 100 fly with Rebecca Aiello and Ana Rodriguez for the girls and Jose Arrillaga, Erik Erton and Marcel Betschardt for the boys.
Alina Schulhofer and Brittany Hammond placed in the 100 free along with Gottie Eisenberger and Descartes Holland. Then Siena DeVenuto and Thomas Veale won the 500 free for Pine Crest with Mallory McKeon along with Austin Evenson, Julian Jimenez, and Ryan Walter also adding to the point totals for the Panthers. Stephanie Moeller placed in the 100 back, as did
Marcel Betschart and Delaney Brock. The 100 breast was a solid event for PC, as Nathalie Bijlsma, Kaelah Chaney, Anastasia Hediger, Michal Rokita, and Ryohei Takatsuchi all scored for the Panthers.
Pine Crest will take on Gulliver Prep at home this Friday, Sept. 25 at 4pm and then will race in the St. Andrews Invitational in Boca Raton on Saturday, Sept. 26.
