Pine Crest defeated a very strong and talented American Heritage team in both boys and girls today at the Woodson pool. Getting out to a strong start was the key to victory as Pine Crest boys won 107 to 76 and girls were 120 to 66, pushing the dual meet record for both teams up to 7-1 for the year.
Pine Crest won the opening event in both the girls and boys meet, in the 200 Medley Relay with the teams of Stephanie Moeller, Nathalie Bijlsma, Rebecca Aiello, Siena DeVenuto and Marcel Betschart, Michal Rokita, Thomas Veale, Gotti Eisenberger. In the 200 free, Siena DeVenuto, Brittany Hammond, Miriam Crispo placed 2,4,5 and for the boys it was Thomas Veale, Julian Jimenez, Austin Evenson also placing 2,4,5.
In the 200 IM, Rebecca Aiello won for PC, with Mallory McKeon and Anastasia Hediger placing, 4,5; for the boys is was Michal Rokita, Ryan Walter, Erik Erton placing 2,3,4. The 50 free had Alina Schulhofer, Stephanie Moeller, Nathalie Bijlsma, place 2,3,4 and in the boys it was Gotti Eisenberger, Descartes Holland and Armand Aguirre placing 2,3,4. The Lady Panthers swept the diving going 1,2,3 led by Jennifer Aguirre, Cheyene Allenby, Ebony Calloway and in boys diving Blake Anderson and Noah Srour placed 2,3.
The 100 fly was another 1,2,3 sweep for the girls with Alina Schulhofer, Ana Rodriguez, Miriyam Ghali and for the boys Jose Arrillaga, Erik Erton, and Nate Legum placed 3,4,5. The 100 free was won by Siena DeVenuto, with Brittany Hammond and Megan Smith placing 3,4; although Miriam Crispo placed 5th the points were awarded to Amer. Hert. as we were scoring only 3 per team so once 3 PC swimmers score the other entry can not score. In the boys 100 free it was Gotti Eisenberger, Marcel Betschart, Descartes Holland, going 2,3,4.
In the 500 free, Rebecca Aiello, Mallory McKeon, Savanna Gornisiewicz placed 2,4,5; and Thomas Veale won the 500 for the boys with Julian Jimenez, Austin Evenson placing 4,5. Pine Crest won the girls 200 free relay with Stephanie Moeller, Brittany Hammond, Nathalie Bijlsma, and placed 2nd in the boys relay, with Gotti Eisenberger, Descartes Holland, Jose Arrillaga, Julian Jimenez.
Stephanie Moeller won the 100 back with Ana Rodriguez and Miriyam Ghali placing 3,4; the boys swept the 100 back with Marcel Betschart, Armand Aguirre, and Ryan Walter going 1,2,3. In the 100 breast it was Nathalie Bijlsma placing 2nd with Lindsey Swartz and Kaelah Chaney, 4th and 5th. The boys 100 breast was another 1,2,3 sweep with Michal Rokita, Ryohei Takatsuchi, Edward Walker.
Rebecca Aiello, Alina Schulhofer, Brittany Hammond, Siena DeVenuto closed out the meet with a win in the 400 free relay and Thomas Veale, Julian Jimenez, Descartes Holland, Marcel Betschart placed 2nd in the 400 free relay.
Our next dual meet is away at University School on Friday, Oct. 16 at 5pm. This is the same pool that will host Regions which have been moved by the FHSAA up to Thursday, Nov. 5, so as not to conflict with the SAT exams on Saturday.
