Pine Crest HS Ends Season Undefeated

Pine Crest Swimming and Diving ended the 2011 season undefeated in  dual meets for both the girls and boys team.  The Panthers held their final dual meet at the Woodson pool and defeated 2A Boys State Champions Belen Jesuit 147-96 and also University School 188-54, while the Lady Panthers defeated University School 166-68 and Our Lady of Lourdes 185-49.

Pine Crest dominated both meets by winning every event in the girls meet except the 100 breast and winning every event in the boys meet except the 200 free and 100 breast.  Congratulations to our Seniors who finished their high school season going undefeated and we want to thank you all, Mallory McKeon, Marcel Betschart, Delaney Brock, Gotti Eisenberger, Austin Evenson, Michal Rokita, Edward Walker, Ryan Walter.  We will miss youl and wish all the best as you move on to swim in college.

The Lady Panthers opened the meet with a victory in the 200 Medley Relay, then Casey Francis and Sabrina Gornisiewicz went 1-2 in the 200 free.  Lindsey Swartz won the 200 IM, while Hannah Veale, Kaelah Chaney, Hailey Kelly, Brooke Bernstein made it a 1-4 sweep in the 50 free.  Our divers also made it a 1-3 sweep in diving with Carolyn Chaney, Juliette Pozzuouli, Carly Ehrlich.  In the 100 fly Casey Francis was 1st, with Mallory McKeon 3rd.  It was another 1-2 in the 500 free with Hannah Veale and Sabrina Gornisiewicz.  The Panthers won the 200 free relay, and Tyla Martin and Miriyam Ghali went 1-2 in the 100 back.  Lindsey Swartz was 2nd with Mallory McKeon 3rd in the 100 breast, and the Lady Panthers closed out the meet with a victory in the 400 free relay.

The boys opened the meet with a win in the 200 medley relay, Austin Evenson and Kent Haeffner placed 2nd and 3rd in the 200 free.  Adam Dear won the 200 IM while Alex Evenson (celebrating his birthday) placed 3rd. Seniors Gotti Eisenberger and Marcel Betschart teamed up for a 1-2 finish in the 50 free.  Connor Gerrtis tied for 1st in diving with Lyle Hayes Macaluso placed 3rd.  Adam Dear won the 100 fly with Michal Rokita placing 3rd.  Gotti Eisenberger won the 100 free, with Kent Haeffner placing 3rd. Austin Evenson won the 500 free with Ryan Walter placing 3rd.

Birthday boy Alex Evenson swam on the winning 200 free relay, along with Gotti, Kent, and Delaney Brock.
Marcel Betschart won the 100 back and Michal Rokita along with Sam Kornter were 2nd and 3rd in the 100 breast.  Pine Crest closed out the meet with a win the 400 free relay.

Up next for Pine Crest are the District Championships, Saturday, October 29 at Pompano Park, finals start at 5pm, come out and support your favorite Panther as the team moves through the playoffs on their way to the State Championship meet.
