Sherel Knesel brings Olympic Class to the District 10 Championship Diving Score Table

Sherel Knesel has been running the diving score table at the University of Texas at Austin since the 1980s when her daughter Julie started diving for the Longhorn Diving Club under Head Age Group Coach, Janet Gabriel.  Sherel and her husband Chuck were a team.  Chuck, who had worked for IBM since he was 16 years old, developed a diving meet management system that ran from his laptop.  This husband and wife dynamic duo revolutionized the meet management operations for the sport of diving.  In 1996, Don Leas, the Director of Competition for the 1996 Olympic Games, selected Chuck and Sherel Knesel to provide computer support to operate the Olympic Games score table in Atlanta.  In 2001, USA Diving selected Chuck and Sherel Knesel to be the recipients of the prestigious Glenn McCormick Award for outstanding contribution to the sport of diving. Sherel scored a perfect “10” for running the FHSAA District 10 Championships without any table errors.
