Pine Crest WINS High School Regional Championships
Pine Crest Swimming and Diving captured the Region Championship team title for the girls and boys team over the Homecoming Weekend. Led by Coach Janet Gabriel and our divers, the team was already on the scoreboard and ahead of the competition prior to the swimming meet even starting on Friday. Once again our team Captains, Mallory McKeon and Brittany Hammond for the girls and Austin Evenson, Delaney Brock and Gotti Eisenberger for the boys had both teams focused on the task at hand and the athletes came out strong and fast in the morning prelimary swims to set up for the team victory at the evening finals.
Also the team is extremely fortunate to have such an outstanding coaching staff to direct them through the playoffs as we prepare for the State Championship meet. Coach Mariusz Podkoscielny, Eddie Lovell, David Rodriguez, Tonya Hammond, and Janet Gabriel really aid in putting the athletes in the best position to score and achieve success for the team.
The Top 3 Team scores in the girls, Pine Crest-395; St. Andrews-308; American Heritage-264 and in the boys Pine Crest 479; American Heritage-224; St. Andrews-194.
Gotti Eisenberger set a new school record in the 200 free, 1:38.93 breaking the old record of Thomas Veale, '11.
Once again Congratulations to all the athletes and coaches on the team for such an outstanding victory over Homecoming weekend, now it is on to States!
The FHSAA State selection sheet is up and PIne Crest has several athletes going to the State Championship meet in Orlando on Friday. This is the first time in 16 years that we are taking 5 divers to the State Championships, so special congratulations to Coach Janet and our divers. And again a big thank you to all the coaches Mariusz, Eddie, David, Tonya and Janet that did such a great job this season in preparing our team for the State meet.
