Ibis Diving Invitational Results
Pine Crest Diving Club brings home the 3rd place team award at the Ibis Invitational. The Pine Crest Diving Club competed in the Ibis Invitational at the University of Miami on December 10th. In attendance at the annual USA Diving competition were both Middle School and Lower School students.
The two Pine Crest Middle School students were Lyle Hayes-Macaluso (FLAC),-6th grader, and Ana Arboleda,-7th grader. The four Lower School students were: Hannah Maister- 5th grader, Shiraz Shiff,-4th grader, Arielle Kaplan-3rd grader, and the youngest team member, Colin Wanless- 2nd grader.
Team Performance - Pine Crest placed third in the Championship Team Awards for Women, 5th for Men and third place Overall.
Individual High Point Awards - Boys: Lyle Hayes-macaluso (FLAC) tied for third place high point award for men. Just behind Lyle, Colin Wanless was the fifth place boys high point award winner of the meet.
Girls - Arielle Kaplan tied for 4th place. Shiraz Shiff was tied for 9th place and Hannah Maister was tied for 12th place girls high point award winner of the meet.
Individual Junior Performance - Three divers moved up from Future Champions skill building events to compete in Junior events. In 9 & Under events, Colin Wanless won the Boys 1m springboard and Arielle Kaplan won the girls. Hannah Maister place 5th in 11 & Under Girls 1m. The 11 & U diving category is contested nationally.
Future Champions Performance - There are 8 levels of USA Diving Future Champions skill building events on both 1m, 3m and platform. Six levels were contested on springboard at the Ibis.
In Level 1, newcomer to Pine Crest, Ana Arboleda place 6th in girls 3-meter springboard.
In Level 2, Colin Wanless placed 1st in boys 3-meter springboard. Ana Arboleda placed 2nd in girls 1-meter springboard. In girls 3m springboard Shiraz Shiff placed 3rd and Hannah Maister placed 4th.
In Level 3, Arielle Kaplan placed 3rd in girls 3-meter springboard.
In Level 5, Shiraz Shiff placed 1st in girls 1-meter springboard.
These divers’ lists included the new skills and dives they have been working on the fall semester. A special congratulations to the divers, Colin Wanless, Arielle Kaplan and Hannah Maister, who improved their dive density and degree difficulty to move from Future Champions to Junior categories in the 1-meter events.
