Pine Crest Selected for Russia Trip

Pine Crest Swimming has been selected by the USA State Department and USA Swimming as one of three USA Swimming Club teams to take part in President Obama's Youth Sports Exchange program.  As some of you may recall in 2010, Pine Crest Swim Camp was the selected by the USA Olympic Committee, USA Swimming, and USA State Department to host the National Junior Team of Russia for two weeks.  This July, Russia has invited the USA to send swimmers to Russia to continue the Youth Sport Exchange program.

The following Pine Crest student/athletes were selected: Kaelah Chaney, Casey Francis, Miriyam Ghali, Brittany Hammond, Anastasia Hediger, Tyla Martin, Lindsey Swartz, Alex Evenson, Kent Haeffner, Coach Jay Fitzgerald.

Thomas Doolittle is first alternate in case one of the other male swimmers selected by the USA State Department cannot go on the trip.  There were 10 female and 10 male swimmers from 3 different USA Swimming Club programs that were selected for the trip with 4 coaches that will travel along with the USA State Department team on this Goodwilll mission to Russia.

We will leave from Ft. Lauderdale on July 12 to Washington DC for briefings and then travel to Moscow, July 13, and return from Russia on July 27 and back to Ft. Lauderdale on July 28.

It is Great to be a Pine Crest Panther!
