Swim4Life-A-Thon A Huge Success - THANK YOU!
On Saturday, December 14 at the Pine Crest School campus in Boca Raton, the pool deck was buzzing with excitement with over 40 kids ready to start the Swim4Life-A-Thon. An appropriate time of giving and using our Lessons Program wording of Swim4Life as the Pine Crest Swimming team was helping save the life of Chef Osnel Augustin.
Chef Osnel has been the Head Chef at Pine Crest School, Boca Raton for 10 years and has received multiple awards for his leadership and culinary expertise through the parent company - SAGE which stands for "Setting A Good Example". Chef Osnel has been a great support to the Pine Crest Swim Team by the year-round work in the cafeteria during the school year, summer swim camps and our annual team BBQ. Unfortunately Chef Osnel has been fighting kidney failure with Osnel splitting his time at the cafeteria for his job, 10 hours of dialysis a day, and what's left of the day with his family of four sons and his wife.
The Pine Crest Swimming team came through and we are so proud to announce that over $4,400 was raised from the event. We had wonderful stories of; Noah Zylberberg challenging himself to swimming the maximum 200 laps without stopping, many of our age group swimmers reaching the 200 laps or close to it, and then Ethan Perelman who had soccer in the morning and came at the very end of the event when everyone was finishing, that didn't stop him from getting in the water with fins on and swim 120 laps on his own, Ethan is only 8 years old.
Thank you to everyone who donated and sponsored the children to this wonderful event. The Augustin family were present at the event and were eternally grateful for the generous gift that was helping out his family.
