🏆 Pine Crest Boys and Girls Capture District Titles at FHSAA 1A District 10 Championships

Fort Lauderdale, FL â€” The Pine Crest Panthers continued their tradition of excellence in the pool, as both the boys’ and girls’ teams captured the District Championship titles at the 2025 FHSAA Class 1A District 10 Championships, hosted by Saint Andrew’s School on October 21. The Panthers delivered dominant performances across all events, showcasing depth, skill, and team spirit as they move on to the regional stage.

Girls’ Highlights

The Pine Crest girls combined strong swims and diving results to secure the overall District Championship:

  • The 200 Medley Relay team of McKenzie Baur (9), Sara Miller (12), Juliette Driscoll (9), and Jayden Paterson (7) finished third in 1:53.93.

  • Sara Miller (12) led the way with a district title in the 200 Individual Medley (2:10.47), followed by teammate Emory Jacobson-Bertanzetti (12) in fifth (2:15.21).

  • Parker Jacobson-Bertanzetti (12) sprinted to third place in the 50 Freestyle (24.69), and McKenzie Baur (9) earned third in the 200 Freestyle (1:58.62).

  • Distance standout Mishka Machado (8) placed third in the 500 Freestyle (5:22.46), while Sarah Shqalsi (7) and Ashley Swirbel (8) followed in the top six.

  • In diving, Anabella Johnson (9) led Pine Crest with a third-place finish (324.95), and teammates Monica Voltz (7) and Sophia Egizi (12) also placed in the top seven.

  • The 200 Freestyle Relay team of Emory and Parker Jacobson-Bertanzetti, Jayden Paterson, and Mishka Machado captured second place (1:41.71).

  • Parker Jacobson-Bertanzetti (12) and McKenzie Baur (9) added key points with top finishes in the 100 Backstroke, taking third (1:00.53) and fourth (1:01.76) respectively.

Boys’ Highlights

The Pine Crest boys also claimed the District Championship title, powered by clutch swims and strong relays:

  • The 200 Medley Relay team of Leo Hauser (12), Danil Sachenko (12), Brady Baur (11), and Leon Merchel-Czubek (12) earned second place (1:43.91).

  • Jake Jones (12) dominated the IM and breaststroke events, finishing second in the 200 IM (1:58.83) and winning the 100 Breaststroke (59.11) to claim an individual district title.

  • Brady Baur (11) won the 100 Butterfly (52.39), with teammate Christopher Lin (12) close behind in third (53.50).

  • Frederick Rosenthal (12) added key points in both the 200 Freestyle and 500 Freestyle, placing top five in each, while Marcos Machado (9) also scored in distance events.

  • In diving, Ashton Jacobi (11) finished second (455.35)Blake Van Tassel (12) fourth (383.30), and Davin Girardin (9) fifth (367.60).

  • The 200 Freestyle Relay team of Lin, Jones, Rosenthal, and Hauser placed third (1:31.20), and Arsenii Aleshin (12) added more points with a third-place finish in the 100 Backstroke (58.89).

Looking Ahead

The Panthers now advance to the FHSAA Class 1A Regional Championships, where they’ll aim to qualify for the State Finals and continue Pine Crest’s storied legacy of excellence in Florida high school swimming. Regionals will be held on October 31st at NSU University School.
