ATAC Competes in All-Star Swim Meet
ATAC qualified 7 swimmers from the Fl. Short Course Championships for the Florida All-Stars. They are Emma Layton, Wyatt Foote, Stuart Higdon, John Yambor-Maul, Parker Brown, Ryan Rumana and Emily Chorpening There are two associations in Florida , the Fl. Assoc. and the Fl. Gold Coast Assoc. which is primarily the S.E. coast. Every year the two associations square off in a dual meet to see who has bragging rights for that year. This year’s Meet was held in Ft. Pierce on April 5th and 6th. Each association puts up their best swimmers and they dual it out. This year, as in previous years, the Florida Association won scoring 658 points to the Gold Coast’s 614. Wyatt Foote and Emma Layton were unable to attend but the following ATAC swimmers did.
Emily Chorpening (10&Under Girls) – 200 Free 1st (true State Champion!), 200 IM 2nd, 100 IM 6th, 50 Free 19th, 100 Back 6th.
Stuart Higdon (10&Under Boys) - Stuart swam in an arm brace having a small fracture in his arm. A real trooper! 50 Back 8th, 100 Free 6th, 50 Free 10th, 100 Fly 12th, 200 Free 13th 50 fly 15th.
John Yambor-Maul (13&14 Boys) – 200 Free 4th, 50 Free 8th, 100 Fly 6th, 500 Free 8th, 100 Free 11th.
Parker Brown (11&12 Boys) – 100 Free 7th, 200 IM 5th, 100 IM 13th, 50 Free 10th, 200 Free 7th, 500 Free 5th.
Ryan Rumana (13&14 Boys) – Ryan qualified as a 12 year old and turned 13 just prior to the All-Star meet. These birthday swimmers are allowed to compete, but in the 13&14 year old division. Quite a challenge, but Ryan stepped up and had a great meet. His events were; 100 Back 21st, 100 Breast 16th, 200 IM25th, 50 Free, 26th, 200 Back 16th, 200 Breast 15th.
