Eagle Swimming Association offers training and practice groups for swimmers of all ages and ability levels. It is the goal of ESA is to offer age-specific training for all of our athletes geared toward challenging each individual and developing each individual to the best of THEIR abilities.

Practices are held at both Atascocita High School and Summer Creek High School.

Developmental

10 years old & Under - Learning strokes

 

The Developmental Group is designed as a hands-on, intensive technique and stroke development class. Athletes must already know how to swim (can make one length of the pool unassisted). Swimmers in this practice group are generally ages 8 & under and are learning all four strokes. Swimmers in this group are encouraged to swim in meets but are not required to do so.

Age Group 1

8 years old & under - Knows all four strokes

 

Eagle Swimming's first level of competition, Age Group 1, is still technique-based. Swimmers in this practice group are generally ages 8 & under and are legal in all four strokes for a distance of 25 yards or more. Swimmers in AG 1 generally participate in 2-3 meets per season.

Age Group 2

Requirements:

9-10 years olds (some older if stroke development is still needed)

B & under swimmers

 

AG 2 is an intermediate swimming level where participants will learn more intricate skills in the sport, such as interval swimming and reading pace clocks. Swimmers in this practice group are generally 9-10 years of age, are B and below level swimmers, and compete in 3+ meets per season, swimming any/every event offered in their age group. This group is designed to provide proper training and instruction to lead to tremendous success in our program's higher-level groups.

Age Group 3

Requirements:

9 - 10 year-olds

BB & above in two strokes

70% Attendance 

 

Test Sets:

12x50 kick @ 1:05 

6x100 free @ 1:55 (with proper technique) 

 

Age Group 3 is our top level of elementary-aged swimmers; with athletes meeting BB times standards in 2 + strokes. Athletes will continue to emphasize skills & techniques, but aerobic and anaerobic training principles will be introduced to facilitate their continued success in the sport. This group's responsibilities include goal setting/attainment, time management, commitment to the sport, and participation in upper-level events such as Zones Meets, Select Camps, and TAGS.

Age Group 4

Requirements:

11- 14 year-olds (some older if stroke/aerobic ability necessitates)

B & under swimmers

 

AG 4 is an intermediate level designed for middle school-aged athletes. Participants will continue to be developed technically and begin developing aerobic capacity through increased training (volume and intensity). Goal setting to advance swimmers in ability, attainment, and commitment will be emphasized with this group to prepare athletes for senior-level swimming. AG 4 swimmers compete in 3+ meets per season, swimming any/every event offered in their age group.

Junior

Requirements:

13 - 14 year-olds & HS JV Swimmers

BB & above in two strokes

80% Attendance 

 

Test Sets:

16 x 50 kick @ 55

10 x 100 free @ 1:25 (with proper technique) 

 

 

The Junior Group is our top-level Age Group swimmers, 13 -14-year-olds meeting BB time standards and above in 2+ strokes. It is a transition group from the age group program to senior-level swimming. Swimmers, at this level, have responsibilities such as goal setting/attainment, time management, commitment to the sport, and participation in upper-level events such as Zones Meets, Select Camps, TAGS & Sectionals.

Senior

Requirements:

14 & Older / HS Varsity / College

A & above in two strokes and/or HS Varsity Swimmers

80% Attendance

20 x 50 kick @ :50

10 x100 free @ 1:20 (with proper technique) 

 

 

ESA's Senior Group is our highest level of training. Swimmers in this group are at least 14 years of age, meeting A time standards and above in 2+ strokes, and are required to have the utmost responsibility and commitment as they are the team's leaders. Usually, training six days a week and compete on the Senior Circuit: Zones, Sectionals, Junior Nationals, and US Open Meets around the United States.
