Oceania Aquatics Honors Coach Jean
Coach Bill, his family, and friends from across several countries celebrated Coach Jean Sakovich's life and contributions to swimming on Friday, April 12th at the Hilo Yacht Club. On Saturday morning, a well-attended paddle-out to spread her ashes near coconut island was held.
Coach Bill then traveled to the Australian Gold Coast to present the "Savokich Award" to Horst Meihi at teh 2024 Oceania Championships. This award, named in honor of Coach Jean, recognizes coaching activities throughout Oceania.
A beautiful tribute created by the Sakovich family can be found at www.inmemoryofjeansakovich.com. Links to gift-giving suggestions in lieu of flowers can also be found on the tribute website.
Congratulations, WAC, we are a Safe Sport Recognized Club!
Congratulations to our entire club! Together we have achieved Safe Sport Club Recognition from USA Swimming!
This recognition reflects our commitment to providing a healthy and positive environment for all team members. To get here, we developed and implemented club governance measures, Safe Sport policies and reporting mechanisms, and Safe Sport best practices, as well as training for athletes and parents.
Being a Safe Sport Recognized Club is one way we work together to support our swimmers and keep them safe!
