ACAC will hold two placement days August 20th or August 21st at 6:00pm! You only need to attend one evening. Bring a swim suit, goggles, and a towel. Changing rooms will be available.
ACAC welcomes new swimmers year round. If you can't make it to one of the placement days or want to wait until later in the year, email us at [email protected] and we will set up a time for you to come in for a placement swim!
What is my child expected to be able to do to be on the swim team? We generally expect our swimmers to have a basic swim lesson background. Being able to put their faces in the water and swim a length of freestyle and some backstroke. If your swimmer can do this at a very beginner level we can find a home for them within our program.
Is there a chance my swimmer will not be ready for swim team if they come to swimmer placement days? In short, yes there is a chance we'd recommend more lessons before joining the club. Swimmers need to be able to complete one length (25 yards) of freestyle in a safe manner. If our coaches think a swimmer needs additional lessons after coming to the swimmer placement days we will notify you and let you know. We offer swim lessons via our Cyclone Swim School program that you can sign up for at different periods during the year. Swimmers are welcome to join throughout the year, so even if lessons are recommend you could join after attending the lessons.
What if I miss or can't attend the tryout dates? Just email the coaches ([email protected]) and we will work to setup another placement date for you. We like to do a big formal swimmer placement date to help us not take away time from our normal day to day workouts but we understand sometimes families can't attend both of those days and we are ready and willing to setup another placement date for you.
Want to join after fall/spring sports? We get swimmers all the time that do fall/spring sports and then come out and swim in the winter or summer. Dues are billed monthly with no long term commitment, allowing swimmers to come and go as needed. Do not be timid to reach out and ask for a placement time and join the team!
