IES Junior Championships Recap

2010 Inland Empire Junior Champions!

Where to begin?  We had high expectations for the IES Junior Champs Meet this year, and we were blown away by how far our swimmers exceeded them.  40 swimmers made the trek down to Moscow last weekend, and we came home with our 2nd straight Junior Championship Trophy!  Everyone had a great time, with some exciting relays, fun cheers, and the satisfaction of swimming fast.

Here are some highlights:

We scored 723 points as a team, beating the 2nd place team by 170 points.  Before the races began on Friday, we had projected that we would win, but by only 90 points.  That shows you how many swimmers improved their seeding and scored points in their events.

Dividing our 723 team points by our 40 swimmers gives us an average of 18.1 points per swimmer—that’s huge!

Here was how a few swimmers finished in the race for high point (swimmer of the meet—those who score the most cumulative points during the weekend):

8 & Under Girls: Rachael Deobald—4th place with 27 points

8 & Under Boys: Tommy Madill—3rd place with 46 points
