Annual Meeting

Our Spokane Waves Annual Meeting has been scheduled for Tuesday, March 23rd at 6:30 pm in the Robinson Teaching Auditorium at Weyerhaeuser Hall (on Whitworth’s campus).

It is essential that at least one parent from every family attend this meeting.

The Annual Meeting is when the general membership (that’s you!) votes on the election of Board of Directions position, changes to our By-Laws, approvals of Policies & Procedures, and any other business that the full memberships needs to deal with.  For more information, please click here.

Swimmers of the Month

Senior: Melissa Kirby

Melissa’s smiling face can be seen at virtually every practice.  Whether it’s the intensity of hard workouts or the focus of developing her skills and technique, Melissa makes her practice time count.  At the IES Short Championships, her efforts paid off.  She had 6 lifetime best swims and also achieved her first ever Senior Sectional Qualifying time in the 100 breaststroke.  With her positive attitude and her drive to practice and compete well, Melissa’s actions are a great example to follow—congratulations Melissa!

Regional: Brandon Merrick

Brandon had a fantastic February, showing strong and consistent work in practice, while racing well in competitions.  Brandon competed at both the IES Junior Championships and the IES Short Course Championships.  At Junior Champs, he won the 500 freestyle, setting a new meet record; he also finished 2nd in the 50 breaststroke, and helped our 200 Medley Relay win first place as well.  At Short Course Champs, he had 6 lifetime best swims, and scored points (top 8) in 4 events; additionally, he helped our 200 Medley Relay finish 3rd.  Brandon’s great efforts in practice and at meets has been a great example for our team—congratulations Brandon!

Age Group: Eric Foote

Eric continues to show strong and steady improvement, both in practice and at meets.  At the IES Junior Championships, he dropped time in four events, and finished 2nd in 3 events; he also helped our 200 Medley Relay win first place.  He competed at IES Short Course Champs in 2 individual events and 2 relays, finishing third in the 200 Medley Relay and making finals in the 50 fly.  His practice efforts have earned him promotion to the Regional Group, and we know that his hard work and dedication will continue to blossom—congratulations Eric!

Ripples: James Baldwin

James has done a great job this past month.  It’s his first year on the team, and he has quickly gotten the hang of things.  His attendance has been excellent, and his efforts in practice have been getting better and better.  Additionally, he is a great listener and a great friend and teammate.  Congratulations James!

That’s it for the week.  Thanks for such a great weekend, and get your sign ups in for Shamrock!!!
