Age Group Sectional Recap

12 Waves swimmers headed over to Federal Way, Washington this past weekend to compete in the Northwest Age Group Sectional Meet, at the beautiful Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center.  This is the premier 18 and under meet in the region, consisting of the best swimmers from Hawaii, Alaska, Oregon, Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, and Washington.  It was a historic weekend for the team: we had our largest squad ever, and had some incredible performances.

We were the 33rd largest team, and finished in 23rd place out of 140 teams and 1300+ swimmers, scoring 88.5 points.  Among Inland Empire teams, we finished only behind Tri-Cities.  Our points averaged out to 7.4 points per swimmer, which is impressive considering only the top 8 swimmers in each event scored.

Stephanie Bayless and Madi Lydig were Sectional Champions in the 50 free and 200 back, respectively; Madi’s swim was fast enough to achieve a NSCA Junior National Time.

Matthew Stapleton broke several team records, and achieved a Western Zone Championship Time in the 100 fly.

Faith Barr: 100 Breast
