Coaches Note 04-20-10

Thank you so much for your participation and volunteering at this weekend’s Triple Pentathlon.  It was a fantastic weekend, and it’s all because of you.  We can’t say thank you enough—you are the heart and soul of this team, and you guys and gals do a great job!!!

If you’d like to know how the weekend went, here’s the recap.

We are gearing up for the Long Course season; it’s hard to imagine thinking about summer, but after this past weekend’s weather, it is becoming a whole lot easier.  Here’s what’s going on:

Swim-a-thon: Hawaiian Daze

Friday May 7 is fast approaching!  Again, this is our only fundraiser of the year, so it’s incredible important to make sure that we are all working hard.  This money goes to cover pool rental fees, pays our coaches, and a helps to secure the future financial health of the team.  For more information, here’s a link; for questions, please contact Toni Endebrock.

Swimposium—MEET OLYMPIAN JASON LEZAK!

The Inland Empire Swimming Swimposium will be held this Saturday in Moscow, Idaho.  This annual event is a great opportunity for swimmers, coaches, officials, and parents to get together and learn more about our sport.  Did I mention you can meet 2008 Olympic here JASON LEZAK!!!  There are tons of great clinics and talks available, click here for a complete list of events.  If you’d like to go, please click here for registration information.

Neptune Invitational—May 14-16: Lewiston, ID

Our first outdoor meet of the year will down in Lewiston in a couple of weeks.  Entries will be due on Monday, May 3.  The sign up is available, but events are not up—hopefully I will get them from the meet host soon. Here’s the updated plan:

a)      Practice down in Lewiston on Friday night is up in the air.  Please email Keddy and say “YES, WE WILL GO TO PRACTICE” or else we’ll just make Friday a travel day, with no practice at either Whitworth or in Lewiston

b)      We will have a practice/team warm down for about an hour after the meet on Saturday night.  Please plan accordingly.

c)       There will be a team dinner Saturday night at Fazzari’s in Clarkston, WA (just across the river).  I promise you, it is one of the best pizza places you may ever eat at!

Policy Reminder

Two quick reminders about Whitworth Aquatic Center policies:

1)      In the event of lightning, there we be a 30 minute delay from the last seen lightning bolt or last heard rumble of thunder.

2)      In case of fecal matter or vomit in the pool, there will be a 30 minute delay so the staff can add chemicals to the pool so that it remains safe.

Remember—with all of the policies and rules here at Whitworth, we are guests and therefore must abide by the guidance of the lifeguards and other staff members.  Thank you for your responsible use of this great facility.

That’s it—thanks for a great weekend, and thanks for all you do with the team!  See you in the pool!
