Coaches Note 09-14-10

What time is it?  POOL TIME!

The air is already full of excitement and possibilities!  Let's keep the energy going as we get back into the water this week!  Here's what's going on:

Whitworth Returning Swimmers Registration--Tuesday, September 14

Registration for all returning WHITWORTH families is TONIGHT, beginning at 5:30 PM.  It will be done according to your last name, so please click here for all of the information.

FIRST PRACTICE--Wednesday, September 15

Are you ready to hit the water?  The 2010-2011 Short Course Season begins tomorrow, with our first in the water practice for all swimmers.  Please click here to view the complete practice schedule.

Cheney Registration/New Swimmer Recap

We welcomed several new families to our Cheney program last Thursday, and are excited to get to know all of the returning swimmers when we get into the pool tomorrow.  Coach Keddy will head out to Cheney today to cheer on the Cheney High School girls team--go Blackhawks!

Last night, we had 27 swimmers tryout at Whitworth.  Almost every single swimmer who tried out joined the team, so be on the lookout for a bunch of new faces!

Developmental Meet--Saturday, October 9 at the Whitworth Aquatic Center

The Fall Kick-off Meet will feature the Waves, and our good friends from SAS and CAST as well.  This is a great opportunity for new swimmers to get a taste of competition and returning swimmers to get up and see where they are at.  Entries are due Tuesday, October 5.  Click here for more information.

Trick or Treat Invitational--October 29-31: University of Idaho Swim Center, Moscow, ID

This 3-day invitational meet is a great opportunity to get out and see the rest of Inland Empire Swimming.  Please click here for more information, and click here for hotel room information (they go fast!).

Welcome New Coaches!

We are pleased to introduce to you our new coaches for the upcoming season, Tom Radtke and Hailee Meyers:

Tom Radtke

Tom is a 2009 Whitworth University graduate where he was a 4-year varsity swimmer for the Pirates.  His senior year, he was the Northwest Conference champion in the 1650, helping lead the Whitworth Men's Team to their 7th straight conference title.  Tom is originally from California, and has been involved in coaching and teaching kids how to swim since the age of 15.  He has coached high school, and spent a couple of summers working with SAS at all levels and abilities.  Tom will be assisting Kevin and Keddy at the Cheney site, and is very excited about the opportunity to coach with the Waves.  He is also coaching the Whitworth Varsity team in the mornings, and is attending massage therapy school.

Hailee Meyers:

Hailee is a one of very own: a Waves alum who is back in action!  She will be coaching the Recreation group, and helping Keddy and Rory with the Age Group and the Ripples at Whitworth.  Hailee has been working as a swim instructor, and has earned the reputation as one of Whitworth's finest swimming instructors.  We are thrilled that she has decided to help coach the team that she grew up on!  She is currently attending community college, and is looking forward to a fantastic season.

We are pumped for the year ahead, and hope that your enthusiasm is just as strong!  We'll see you in the pool!
