Trick or Treat Meet Recap
Trick or Treat
Meet Recap
We had a great weekend of swimming. The Waves sent 50 swimmers to the first invitational meet of the year. From those 50 kids, we rocked 181 best times, 6 team records, and 6 high-point awards. For the last 6 weeks, the Waves swimmers have been building a base level of fitness, getting in shape, and preparing for the rest of the season. Doing the long hard work of getting in shape is the foundation for the rest of the year. The next phase of the season will be where we introduce explosiveness and power to our swimmers, as well as refining technique and skills (ie. Turns, starts, etc.) We’ve done a great job so far and I’m looking forward to the next meet at our very own EWU pool in Cheney.
The Waves placed 2nd at the 2010 Trick or Treat meet with 50 swimmers, barely falling to the meet host Gold Medal Swim Club who had 69 swimmers. One thing that I’ve always liked looking at is points scored per swimmer. It gives a great perspective to how strong a team really is:
Team Swimmers Points Points per Swimmer
Gold Medal 69 1382 20.0
Waves 50 1113.5 22.27
Coer D’Alene 51 860 16.8
Swimmers in Top 3 High-Point:
Kyle O’Malley 1st, (15&O Boys)
Madi Lydig 1st (13-14 Girls)
Mandi Edlin 2nd (11-12 Girls)
Carlie McGregor 2nd (15&O Girls)
Ashley Christoff 3rd (13-14 Girls)
Jacob White 3rd (15&O Boys)
Team Records:
Jared Geschke 25 Breast, 100 Breast (8&U Boys)
Nate Endebrock 200 Free, 500 Free (13-14 Boys)
Conner Hickey 200 IM (13-14 Boys)
Matt Stapleton 50 Breast (13-14 Boys)
Great job Waves, it was a blast to see you all down there. Thanks for helping with timing, officiating, making posters, setting up dinners, and supporting our swimmers!
