Jingle Bell Recap

Thirty-one Waves swimmers headed down for the Jingle Bell Splash Meet in Moscow, Idaho this past weekend.  It was an exciting weekend of racing, as the 11 and older swimmers got a chance to swim prelims and finals on Saturday.  What that means is that swimmers who placed in the top 8 during the morning swims were invited back to swim again in the evening.  Whatever place they got in those finals heats were their final placing in the scoring.

Our team got 4th place, scoring 420 points—not bad considering we were the only top 5 team who did not participate in any relays.

Individually, Emma Thompson had a fantastic weekend.  She broke the Inland Empire (IES) and team record in the 25 Butterfly, swimming a blazing fast 15.19.  She also set a team record in the 25 freestyle, narrowly missing an IES record as well.  She was also the High Point Winner for the 8&Under Girls.

Alexis Schmidt swam a pair of lifetime bests, including a new team record in the 11-12 Girls 200 fly.

Izzy Madill also qualified for the Washington State Senior Champs Meet by dropping 4 ½ seconds in the 200 butterfly.
