Last Minute Mile Recap

Wow, what a meet.  The Last minute miles was a showcase of toughness, great racing, and brave kids trying some of swimming’s hardest races out (many for the first time.)  Each of the 25 kids that raced was allowed to chose one event; either the 500, 1000, 1650, or the 400 IM.  From those 25 races, came an astounding number of amazing results:

 

Distance by the numbers:

24 out of 25 swims was a season best! (The one that wasn’t had a flu and missed 3 days before the meet.)  5 Team records, 6 new Inland Empire Championships, and 21 best times!

 

Emily Zook: After battling sickness, dropped 5 seconds in the 400IM

Anna Zook: Swam the 400IM for the first time, made her first IE Champs qualifying time by 5 seconds

Rachael Deobald: Swam the 400IM for the first time, broke the team record by 23 seconds!

Jaclyn Gray: Swam the 500 and dropped 40 seconds!

Jared Geschke: Swam the 500 and dropped 27 seconds

Tommy Madill: Swam the 500, dropped 43 seconds and broke the 9-10 boys team record

Matthew Christoff: Swam the 500 and dropped 33 seconds

Ryan Foote: Dropped 32 seconds in the 500, and set the 9-10 boys record with a time of 6:18.96.  He also swam a 10&U AGS qualifying time.

Sarah Dolph: First time 500 swimmer showed how tough she was by swimming the whole thing with goggles either full of water or around her neck.

Emma Thompson: Swam the 500 for the first time, setting a new 8&U team record by 26 seconds!  Her time of 7:28.18 averaged under 1:30 per hundred.

Jordan Dashiell: Swam the 500 for the first time, really showing her toughness going a 7:37.12.,

Heather Spall: Swam the 1000 Free with her goggles in her mouth, just missing a best time, on her way to swimming a season best.

Madi Lydig: Swam the 1000 in a Whitworth Pool record of 10:28, team record, and best time by 3 seconds!

Avery Tripp: She swam the 1000 Free for the first time, broke the team record (9-10 girls) by 20 seconds with a 15:15.84!

Sophi Madill: She swam the 1650, dropped 1 Minute 23 seconds, and qualified for the Inland Empire Championships!

Sam Sentenn: She swam the 1650 with a meet best 3 minute drop, qualifying for champs by 1.5 minutes!

Kaylie Geschke: She swam the 1650 dropping 40 seconds, joining several 13-14 girl teammates in qualifying for the Inland Empire Championships!

Makenna Endebrock: She swam the 1650, dropped over a minute, qualifying for the Inland Empire Championships!

Isabel Madill: She dove in, lost her goggles, and swam a 1650 in a season best time!  That’s one rough way to get a great swim!

Faith Barr: Faith swam the 1650 for the 2nd time, and after working through a pulled muscle this week, swam a season best time, just missing the Senior Western Zones time.

Alli Bumann: She was all business in the 1650, racing to a 3 second best time, requalifying for Age Group Sectionals, closing in on Senior Sectionals.

Meghan Merrick:  She swam the 1650 in a season best by over 15 seconds, closing in on that AGS qualifying time!

Nate Endebrock: After having the flu all week, missing 3 practices, he got up and paced Alli to a great swim.  Way to be tough Nate.

Evan Childears:  One of our rookie milers, dove in and swam a best time in the 500, 1000, and 1650 all in one.  Way to try new things and go after them!

Eric Foote: Our other rookie miler swam lights out.  He smashed the Inland Empire Championships qualifying time with a 19:41, having a great first 1650 swim!
