WAVES WIN 4th CONSECUTIVE 14&U CHAMPS TITLE!
Going in to a swim meet with 98 swimmers can make a coach pretty confident. When you find out that your team makes up 30% of all the swimmers in a meet, you begin to dream big. What followed was beyond anyone's wildest expectations.
The Waves absolutely dominated the 2012 IES 14&U Championships Meet this past weekend, scoring 1509.5 points, more than three times the number of points as the second place team (475.5).
More impressively, nearly every swimmer on the team scored points, either individually or on a relay. The Waves scored an amazing 15.4 points per swimmer (second best at the meet), and had an astounding 78.4% of life-time best swims. Of the 98 swimmers who raced, 95 came home with at least 1 best time (96.9%).
SWAT swimmers won 51 of the 106 total events (48.1%). Of the 30 meet records broken, 19 were broken by swimmers from the Waves (63.3%).
More important than any records or qualifying times, we competed as a team, cheering each other on, congratulating one another, and consoling those who had rough swims. Our cheers were overwhelming, and numerous parents, coaches, and officials from other teams were blown away by our strong races, enthusiasm, and sportsmanship. We raised the bar for our team, and sent a huge message to all of IES that the Waves are a force to be reckoned with!!!
