NCSA Junior Nationals Recap

Madi Lydig and I flew to Florida last week to compete in her first ever Jr. Nationals.  It was a blast!  Madi had been on a tear of the last 7 weeks, starting her championship season with a bang at the Missouri Grand Prix, and this was the final meet in Orlando, Florida.  This meet was competed in and 25 Yard pool, very different from the Olympic 50M course, which she swam best times in at both the Grand Prix and Sr. Sectional meets.  She Kicked it off with the 200 Back, going just a few hundredths off her best time.  The next event was the 100 Back, she had an off race, and added a few tenths, then got up and time trialed the 200 back again.  She confirmed her time, going a few hundredths off her best again, trying out a different race strategy.  Finally, on the last day of the meet, she broke through with a sprint gear, popping a best time in the 50 back!  One of the best races of the weekend however wasn’t in the pool.  Madi and I got on the go-kart track with other kids from the Inland Empire.  Both starting middle of the field, we ended up dominating the field, going 1stand 3rd!  Looking forward to a great relaxing spring break, Madi will be cheering on her teammates while the kids and I head over to AGS!
