Parking Issues @ Whitworth
Important Message to all SWAT Members:
WhitworthUniversityRules and Regulations must be observed and respected by all SWAT families that come onto the Whitworth campus. Campus Security personnel are to be treated with courtesy and respect. NO EXCEPTIONS!!
SPEEDING:
Speeding through the University Campus, is a violation of the “posted” speed limits, and extremely disrespectful and dangerous to the students on campus. It is imperative that everyone obey the speed limits and yield the right of way to any pedestrian they encounter on their way to the pool or while leaving the campus. SWAT will request that Security issue citations for speeding through campus and forwarded that information to the Board. The Board will consider a speeding citation as a violation of SWAT’s “Code of Conduct”. Furthermore, any SWAT member – parents or swimmer - cited for speeding (on campus), shall be required to pay any applicable fine or they will be subject to suspension or removal from the Team.
FIRE LANE:
Parking at the “Fire Lane” along the road outside the pool, has never been legal and will no longer be allowed or tolerated by Whitworth Security personnel. Unless your swimmer(s) are waiting for you (outside) when you pull up, you arenot allowed to park in that “Fire Lane”. Furthermore, if you are approached by Whitworth Security personnel and asked to move from the Fire Lane, please do so immediately and treat any University Security personnel in a respectful and courteous manner.
Whitworth Security personnel have complained that they have been treated rudely when they’ve spoken to folks parked along the Fire Lane. This will not be tolerated!
All SWAT parents who are waiting to pick up their swimmers are required to park their vehicle in an actual parking space while waiting for their swimmer(s). NO EXCEPTIONS!!
Bottom line:
SWAT pays for pool use at Whitworth University. Not for the use of the road in front of the Aquatic Center! That is University property and everyone traveling onto the campus is subject to University’s Rules, Regulations and their campus security officers.
I am sorry it has come down to this, but the Club cannot tolerate behavior that could potentially jeopardize their ability to continue to provide this competitive swim program for swimmers.
Respectfully,
Kent Merrick
President – Spokane Waves Aquatic Team
