Washington Senior Championships

Day by Day. 
 
We just rocked the first night of the WA Senior Championships. We had 4 swim, 4 best times, and 2 team records from Christine Renzini, and Nate Endebrock. Currently the Waves are in 3rd, led by Christine placing 2nd, Kaylee Beck 6th, Faith Barr 26th, and Nate placing 13th.
 
Two more JR. National qualifiers from this mornings racing. Faith Barr and Dylan Schanz swam best times in the 100 breast! We had a slew of team records, and tons of best times. We are not even to finals yet! Nate Endebrock team record in the 200 free, Emma Schanz team record in the 100 breast (#1 seed going into tonight), Dylan Schanz team record in the 100 breast and 400 IM. We race tonight at 5 pm.

What a night for the Waves. We raced amazing this morning, and just continued on tonight. The night started with the 200 Free Relays, rock’n! The girls led off with Faith Barr going a best time, then proceded to knock out 13th place finish, breaking the 15-18 & Open team record. Nate Endebrock kicked off the individual races with a new team record and a 17th place finish in the 200 Free. Faith Barr and Emma Schanz raced the 100 Breath with a 7th and 3rd place finish. Emma’s 1:04.28 prelims swim was an 15-16 and Open IES record!!! Faith Barr had her first Jr. National qualifying time as well. Dylan Schanz raced to a 13th place finish in the 100 breast, also qualifying for Jr. Nationals for the first time.
Emma Schanz and Christine Renzini both dropped almost 2 seconds from their prelims times to place 14th and 21st respectively. Nate Endebrock moved up from 26th to 23rd with his finals swim. Christine Renzini, 10 minutes after her backstroke race got up and finished 24th in the 100 Fly. Conner Hickey had something to prove in the 100 Fly. After a rough morning, blasted to a new team record by 2 seconds, just missing Jr. Nationals, and winning the “C” Final with a time that would have been 6th overall. To wrap up the individual swims, Dylan Schanz raced the 400IM in team record fashion, placing 12th.
There was a 15 minute break leading to the last relay of the night where the WAVES were huge. The girls moved up from 20th to 8th, breaking the team record by 8 seconds. The guys got up and won their heat by 5 body lengths, lowering the team record by almost 13 seconds, placing 5th, and just missed Jr. Nationals by a few tents.
The most amount of points the waves have scored at this meet has been 157. With 2 days to go… we are sitting in 4th place, 162 points, and by far the best pound for pound team in the top 10. Keep it up Waves! And swim fast tomorrow at Jingle Bell!
 
Day 3:

At the Washington Senior Championships, the Waves are keeping their hot streak rolling.  The morning Started with Izzy Madill dropping 8 seconds and getting her first 15-18 AGS time.  Kaylee Beck place 24th in the 200 Fly with a season best, just to get back up and rock the 500.  In the 500’s Christine Renzini is ranked 8th going into finals and Kaylee dropped 3 seconds to place 11th.  Nate Endebrock dropped 14 from his season best.  The 50’s were where our men stepped up.  Cameron Lind swam a best time, 23.1 Dylan Schans, Rustin Babcock, and Conner hickey all made top 25 performances, and will swim again tonight.  Nate Endebrock dropped .5 to place 27th.  The it was time for the breaststrokes.  Kylee Probert placed 76th, Faith Barr dropped 8 seconds and made a JR. National Bonus time and is 7th going into finals.  Emma Schanz continued her dominance breaking the team record with a 2:19.89, and placing 1st going into finals.  Her brother then got up and did the same thing, breaking the team record by 7 seconds, placing 8th going into Finals tonight.  Emma Schanz kept her busy morning going, 10 minutes later racing to a 3rd place finish and team record in the 50 back, and anchoring the 800 Free Relay.  The girls were led off with Christine Renzini swimming a best time in the 200, followe by a best time from Faith Barr, Kaylee Beck was our third leg, and Emma Schanz had an amazing finish, breaking the team record by almost 20 seconds. 

Tonight we have a lot of relays and racing, and I know Jingle Bell is off to a great start.  Keep it up Waves!

Finals Day 3:

The third night of racing kept pace with the first 2 nights.  There were team records and Jr. National cuts, best times, and a lot of fun.  The night was kicked off with the girls (Emma Shanz, Faith Barr, Christine Renzini, Kaylee Beck) placing 13th in the 200 MR, breaking the 15-18 girls team record.  The guys would not be out done, Nate Endebrock led off with a 50 Back record, followed by Dylan Schanz, Conner Hickey, and Rustin Babcock.  They shattered the ream records (15-18 & Open) by 7 seconds. 

The individual races started with Rustin Conner and Dylan placing 22ndd, 18th, and 11th respectively.  All three have broken 22.00.  Next up was the 500 Free with Kaylee Beck (dropping 3 seconds) placing 12th(, and Christine Renzini dropping time and placing 6th.  Our breaststroke squad then got up an dominated.  Emma Schanz qualified for Jr. Nationals (breaking the team record in the morning) placing 2nd, and Faith bar dropping another half second (she dropped 6 this morning), placing 7th.  Dylan Schanz qualified for Jr. Nationals by dropping .5 seconds, breaking a team record and placing 8th.  Emma Schanz then got up and raced to a 5th place, breaking the team record in the 50 back a few moments after the breast.

We wrapped up the night with an awesome performace from the guys.  Nate Endebrock led off the 800 Free Relay by lowering his best time and team record in the 200 Free by over a second.  Conner Hickey then dove in and swam 2 seconds faster than his best time, Dylan Schanz wouldn’t be out done… swimming 4 seconds faster than his best time, and anchored by Cameron Lind to place 9th, while breaking the team record by 9 seconds. 

It was another fantastic night for the Waves at the Washington Senior Championships.  We are placed 4th as a team with 312 points, and of the top 10 teams, we have the highest PPS (Points per Swimmer) almost 50% more PPS than the nearest team!  Great work Waves swimmers.

We are all cheering for you at Jingle Bell.  I’ve been hearing rumors of greatness, and I’m so proud of our team right now.  I know it’s crazy and crowded over there, but keep it up and race fast.  Let’s make this last day of racing our best.  Go WAVES!

 

Day 4:

The last morning of racing at the Washington Senior Championships was another fine day of racing.  It started with Izzy Madill, Cameron Lind, and Conner Hickey all racing to best times in the 50 Fly.  Conner And Cameron will be swimming tonight in Finals.  Conner Hickey then raced the 100 free in another best time placing 13th, Nate Endebrock placing 40th, and Cameron Lind 77th.  Izzy Madill dropped 5 seconds in the 200IM, and Kylee Probert broke 2:20 in the 200 IM.  Conner Hickey briefly held the team record in the 200 IM, dropping a second to place 15th, Dylan Schanz then got up and broke that record by 4 seconds, placing 5thgoing into finals tonight.  The 50 breast was a great event for us with Faith Barr lowering her own team record placing 2nd, Emma Schanz is 7th.  Dylan Schanz placed 4th, going a best time and breaking the team record in the 50 breast.

We wrapped up the morning by the girls racing the 400 Free Relay.  Emma led off the relay, going a best time, followed by all 3 other girls swimming faster than their best times, moving up from 20thto 7th!  The guys dove in and as raced extreamly well, lowering their team record, and placing 8th

We have a lot of kids in finals tonight, as well as 3 girls in the top 8 for the mile.  Good luck, and keep swimming fast at Jingle Bell!

Day 4 Finals:

The finals night of the Washington Senior Championships was one to remember.  It started with amazing miles, and ended with a 1-2-3 knockout.  Christine Renzini dropped 2 minutes, broke the team record by 20 seconds, and placed 3rd.  right behind her was Kaylee Beck in 4th, and a surprise of the mile Faith Barr dropped 50 seconds to place 8th!  In a night where EVERY Waves swimmer made it back, Izzy Madill placed 24th (up from 30th) and swam a best time.  Cameron Lind also raced the 50 Fly in the men’s “C” final. 

Conner hickey threw down a new team record and got 5th in the 50 Fly, then 10 minutes later got up and raced to a 12th place finish in the 100 Free. 10 more minutes later, he got up and raced the 200 IM placing 12th in that race as well.  Dylan Schanz made his 3rd Jr. National qualifying time in team record fashing while placing 5th in the 200 IM.  Christine Renzini swam the 100 Back to a 23rd place finish, while Emma Schanz swam to 7th  place. 

This led to the final races of the night, the Waves were in 4th place, 22 points behind Issaquah Swim Team, a perennial powerhouse.   Kylee Probert moved up 21 spots from 40th to 19th in the "C" final!  That set the expectations for the last event.  Then Faith Barr and Emma Schanz dug deep for the 22nd races of the meet, finishing First and Second!  After that, Dylan racing his 22nd race of the weekend broke his own team record, and placed 5th in the 50 Breast.  With those three swims, we moved to 3rd place with 501 points.  Just to give you an idea of the competition, here is a breakdown of PPS of the top 10 teams:
