PRACTICE GROUP DESCRIPTIONS

The Blue Devil Swim Club offers training and practice groups for swimmers of all ages and ability levels. It is the goal of the Blue Devils Swim Club to offer age-specific training for all of our athletes geared towards challenging and developing each individual to the best of their abilities.

Junior Devil 1
10 & Under for those who are beginners and need work on all 4 strokes. Must be able to swim 25 yards freestyle and 25 yards backstroke.
No attendance requirement.
Meets are highly encouraged.

Junior Devil 2
10 & Under for those who are beginners to intermediate and need work on all 4 strokes. Closer to having all 4 strokes legal and can swim longer distances.
No attendance requirement.
Meets are highly encouraged.

Blue
This group is for all 11–14-Year-olds who are beginner to intermediate. They have a good knowledge of all 4 competitive strokes. Swimmers will be divided into lanes based on abilities during practice.
No attendance requirement.
Meets are highly encouraged.

Bronze
This group is for all swimmers 9 - 14-Year-Olds who are intermediate. They have a good knowledge of all 4 competitive strokes. Swimmers will be divided into lanes based on abilities during practice.
No Attendance Requirement, but 3 practices a week is recommended.
Meets are highly encouraged.

Silver
9-14-year-olds for those that are intermediate to advanced and are capable of doing all 4 strokes efficiently. Anyone younger than 10 Years old will only be allowed in this group with the coach's recommendation. The goal for this group is to make regional qualifying times. Minimum practice requirements are the ability to hold 8x100 IM’s on 2:30 and 8x100 kick on 3:00.
Practice requirements are 3 Practices per week.
Meet requirements is swimmers will compete at meets regularly throughout the season.

Gold
9-14-year-olds for those that are intermediate to advanced and are capable of doing all 4 strokes efficiently. Anyone younger than 10 Years old will only be allowed in this group with a regional time or by coach recommendation. The goal for this group is to make regional and state qualifying times. Minimum Practice requirements is the ability to hold 8x100 IM’s on 2:00 and 8x100 kick on a demanding interval.
Practice requirements are 4 Practices per week.
Meet requirements is swimmers will compete at meets regularly throughout the season.

Seniors 13 & Over
13 & Over swimmers that are beginner to advanced. Swimmers start in this group the spring before Freshman year of high school. Swimmers should be focused on improving technique and race strategy competition. Swimmers will be divided into lanes based on abilities during practice. Many swimmers in this group are preparing for high school swim season.
Practice requirements are 4 practices per week.
Meet requirements is swimmers will compete at meets regularly throughout the season.

Senior Advanced
13 & Over 13 & Overs swimmers who are advanced to elite level. All swimmers should have at least 1 regional qualifying time to be in this group. Any swimmer younger than 13 must have achieved regional/state qualifying times. Swimmers should be serious about the sport, train aggressively with the goal of achieving Zones, Sectional qualifying standards, and moving towards national level competition; as well as prepare for college swimming.
Swimmers are expected to attend 90%+ of all meets, practices, and dryland sessions.

These group descriptions are for basic guidelines and are not intended as hardline requirements. The Head Coach, in conjunction with the group coaches, has the final say in all instances. In all instances, the coaches will do what is best for the swimmer and the team.
