Jami graduated from Auburn University with a degree in Education and also has an Associate’s degree in Graphic Design. Jami started coaching for BDSC in the fall of 2018. She began her coaching career in California with the Aquazot Swim Club as the head 12 and under coach. While at AZOT they won countless championships and set new Southern California records.

Before joining BDSC, Jami was an aquatics Director at a private health club in Glen Ellyn, IL. She currently works as a freelance graphic designer in between running her 2 boys to swim practice and other activities. Jami is very happy to back coaching.

Jami is an age group coach and is excited to see their achievements!

Kevin Kowalski

Kevin graduated from the College of Engineering at the University of Illinois in Champaign/Urbana. His day job is with Hardy Pro-Air in Antioch, IL. Kevin went through the Red Cross swim lesson program as a child and has been swimming recreationally his entire life. 

Kevin's first job was teaching swim lessons for a few summers with the Wildwood Park District. He swam competitively in High School at Warren and was a captain his Junior and Senior years. 

Kevin has been coaching with the Blue Devil Swim Club since the Summer of 2007. He currently coaches the Blue group and you may see him helping out with other Age Group practice groups. On his days off he enjoys time with his wife, time with his daughter (previous BDSC swimmer) and step daughters (not swimmers), working on his house, and rooting for the Chicago Blackhawks.

 

Maggie Moore

Age Group Coach

Practice Groups: Junior 1 and 2

Maggie graduated from the University of Iowa with a BA in Biology and a BFA in Dance, the University of Southern California with a Master’s in Secondary Science Education and is on track to complete a Master’s in Pharmacology and Toxicology with an emphasis in Toxicology at Michigan State University in 2023.  She works full time for Abbott CoreDx as a Sr Scientist developing blood chemistry assays.

Maggie has previously lifeguarded, taught swim lessons, and ran the Gurnee Park District swim program coaching other instructors 20 years ago.  She worked with Anja Grevers, mother of Olympic Goal medalist Matt Grevers coaching 8 and unders for the Gurnee Park District Swim Club before BDSC came to be.

Maggie came to BDSC as a swimmer parent several years ago and became a US Swimming Official and is now certified in stroke/turn and starter positions.  In 2021, Maggie increased her roles with BDSC as a coach for our newest and youngest swimmers in Junior 1 and Junior 2.  She loves working with this age group as they are so excited and open to learning and they brighten my life every day I am privileged to coach them.  In addition to coaching swim team, Maggie is an active leader in Scouts BSA – so let me know if your swimmer is working on any scouting aquatics!

 

Kalidah Gonzalez 

JUNIOR COACH

Practice Groups: Jr 1 

 

Kalidah has been swimming for BDSC for 7 years now and started when she was 9 years old. She’s a member of the Senior Advanced group. She is a Regional champion in the 200 breaststroke and a two-time State swimmer in back/breast events.

 

Kalidah started coaching for BDSC a year ago and she works mainly with Coach Maggie with the Junior Devil groups. She enjoys jumping around and helping the other groups too! Her favorite thing is to be able to help the kids improve their swimming skills and have fun! She loves to share her swimming knowledge and experience with this team.

 

Kalidah is currently a sophomore at Warren Township High School. She swims and plays water polo for the high school team there too! When she isn’t in the pool she spends time with friends and family!
