M3A on Club Q
Hello M3A families,
We are saddened to see the recent acts of violence in Colorado Springs, CO. These heinous acts of violence at Club Q were shocking, jarring, and deeply saddening. Colorado Springs is the home of the United States Olympic Training Center and the headquarters of USA Swimming. Our hearts go out to all those impacted by this tragedy, especially the friends and families of the victims. We also are holding the LGBTQIA+ staff of Team USA and their colleagues who are part of the Colorado Springs community in our thoughts as they process this event with their own pain.
We recognize that violence against members of the LGBTQIA+ community is real and that it is a threat to those who we care about. As M3 Aquatics, we stand firmly against all kinds of hate or violence. If you know someone who may be experiencing a mental health crisis, please speak up and notify the appropriate people if you feel they are a danger to themselves or others. If you see something say something. Acts of mass violence in this country have become all too common for us to be comfortable with inaction.
Since our inception, M3 Aquatics has worked relentlessly to provide safe programming for LGBTQIA+ athletes and their families. We are reminded daily about the fortunate position we are in to be able to create this environment and we give thanks to you all for supporting us.
If you are considering donating to support victims and their families, we recommend the fundraiser organized by the Colorado Healing Fund available here. We remember the memories of Daniel Davis Aston, Kelly Loving, Ashley Paug, Derrick Rump, and Raymond Green Vance. May they rest peacefully.
In Solidarity, We Stand,
The Coaching Staff
