Executive Order 14201
Hello M3A families,
We are deeply troubled by the news coming out of the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee (USPOC) regarding the participation of trans athletes. The USOPC has determined that they are going to comply with President Trump’s executive order 14201 which will restrict trans athletes from competing in women’s categories. This decision by the USOPC also took away the ability of National Governing Bodies (NGBs) like as USA Swimming to self-regulate policies such as this.
Our staff at M3 Aquatics will remain a club which is welcoming, affirming, and supportive of all our members, especially those who are part of the LGBTQIA+ community and have been impacted by this new policy. The staff will continue to coach, train, and enter athletes into competition independent of how they identify. Our approach towards athlete development and our expectations for each other are firmly unchanged by this policy update.
Multiple members of our coaching staff are currently in conversation with USA Swimming, Illinois Swimming, legal counsel, and LGBTQIA+ rights organizations regarding this matter. We will update you as more information comes forward. In the meantime, we ask for your support and patience as we navigate this singularly horrific move by the USPOC.
In solidarity we stand,
The Coaching Staff
