SafeSport Measures

*Page Updated 8/31/2021*

SPY is committed to providing a safe environment for all participants. In an effort to protect athletes while participating with SPY we have athlete protection policies and guidelines in place which were developed by guidance from USA Swimming with the help of the U.S. Center for Safe Sport.

While most details of the policy are for USA Swimming Members and USA Swimming Non-Athlete Members, there are aspects of it that effect 'Applicable Adults' which includes various meet personnel which have contact with athletes.

The Minor Athlete Abuse Prevention Policy (MAAPP) has been developed by USA swimming to help educate everyone on appropriate interactions. You can find our policy here. You can find additional information on the changes to the MAAPP here

Additonally, there are some clarifications for those with questions available through the USA Swimming Website specifically for this policy. Every meet we attend, including even Closed YMCA Meets, are USA Swimming approved which means this will apply to any meet or practice SPY attends.
