The Duneland Swim Club offers training and practice groups for swimmers of all ages and ability levels. It is the goal of the Duneland Swim Club to offer age specific training for all of our athletes geared towards challenging each individual and developing each individual to the best of THEIR abilities.
DEVELOPMENTAL GROUPS
White: The White group is our beginners. White represents a clean slate and the start of the journey in swimming.This group consist of trial swimmers and swimmers new to the sport. This level focuses on learning the very basics of freestyle and backstroke technique and breathing. The emphasis of this group is to become comfortable in the water and to gain a lifelong love of the sport. Fun, while learning, is important in this group.
Yellow : The Yellow Group bridges the gap between foundational skills and advanced competitive swimming. Yellow symbolizes energy, enthusiasm, and growing confidence — perfect for swimmers who are building on the skills learned in the White Group.
At this level, swimmers continue to refine freestyle and backstroke while learning breaststroke and butterfly. Stroke technique remains the top priority, with an increased emphasis on endurance to prepare for future advancement. Basic competition skills are expanded to include diving from the side and progressing to starts from the block, as well as mastering flip turns.
Swimmers are encouraged to begin competing regularly at swim meets, gaining valuable experience in racing and meet preparation. Yardage and training intensity gradually increase to support continued growth while maintaining a fun and encouraging environment. Above all, the Yellow Group fosters a lifelong love of swimming while helping athletes develop the skills, confidence, and focus needed for success in the sport.
COMPETETIVE TRAINING GROUPS
Maroon: This group continues to work on stroke technique and all skills required for competitive swimming. Maroon symbolizes strength and intensity, reflecting the dedication of advanced swimmers pushing their limits. These swimmers have demonstrated all four competitive strokes. Rules and regulations of competitive swimming are enforced. Aerobic training, dryland exercises, pace clock management and race strategies are introduced.
Gold: Athletes in our Gold group are our championship level swimmers. Gold symbolizes excellence and achievement, perfect for the highest level of competitive swimmers aiming for top honrs. By this point, technique and skill are perfected and yardage and competition becomes the main focus. Gold is an intense cardiovascular training group with daily goals of completing posted yardage and maintaining proper technique throughout practice. Dryland training, race strategies and advanced training philosophies are expanded.
Black: Our Black training group is primarily our Senior program. Black symbolizes swimmers who have reached the pinnacle of their training and competition. They are seen as the leaders and role models within the team, embodying the highest standards of discipline, performance, and sportsmanship. This consists of swimmers preparing for the next high school season. Weights and cruise intervals are introduced to allow for individual development. The Head Age Group Coach and Head Senior Coach reserve the right to include any swimmer they feel has the physical and mental ability/development to handle these practices regardless of age.
