Senior 1

Practice objectives: The Senior 1 Group is designed for swimmers committed to training for sectional and national competitions. Swimmers must be in at least ninth grade to participate.
  • Eligibility requirements:
    • Swimmers aged 14 with sectional qualifying times.
    • Swimmers must be in good health and have the training base necessary for the group. 
    • Swimmers must be highly motivated as expectations are high.
  • About the group:
    • Swimmers are offered the opportunity to pursue and achieve goals on the national level. The student-athletes in this group need to recognize that training at this level does not allow for full-time involvement in other sports or activities.
    • The attendance policy is consistent with what’s needed to achieve their full potential. Swimmers are expected to maintain 90% attendance at a minimum. 
    • Swimmers must adhere to the designated meets prescribed by the coaching staff and follow the plan targeting success for the swimmer and the team.
    • Additional activities include drylands, swimmer/coach conferences, meetings, team activities, etc. 
    • Enjoy the process! Appreciate the value of long-term commitment, setting/achieving goals, and support in making choices consistent with stated goals.
    • 5000 to 7000 short course meters (SCM) per workout. Up to 14 or more plus hours of pool time per week plus dryland training. The summer schedule offers additional opportunities and water time.   
    • Senior 1 swimmers are allowed to attend two double practices per week.
    • Senior 1 swimmers will be offered exclusive meets to attend.
    • Senior 1 swimmers will be offered exclusive team apparel.
    • During high school season SR 1 swimmers may attend any CIA Senior 1 practice for free to help supplement their HS training.
  • Major goals:
    • Senior Sectionals, Futures Championships, Junior Nationals Championships, Senior National Championships, and Olympic Trials.

  • CIA team cap at practices and meets.
  • Well-fitting practice suit.
  • Goggles.
  • Team shirts for meets.
  • Snorkels.
  • Fins.
  • Buoy.
  • Paddles.
  • Water bottle.
  • Swim bag.
  • Equipment bag.
CIA Into Dues: $250/month
USA Swimming Membership: $78/year
CIA Registration Fee: $100/season
 
Volunteer hours required: 12 hours per family, eight hours if the family only has a high school swimmer per season.
 
Family discount: Families with three or more swimmers receive a discount on their swimmer dues. The registration fee for the third swimmer and additional swimmers beyond three is reduced by 50%. This reduction applies to the swimmer(s) with the least expensive dues.
