Athlete Code of Conduct

The purpose of a code of conduct for athletes is to establish a consistent expectation for athletes’ behavior.  The following honor code is in effect for clinics and the competitive season.

1.  CCA athletes should be respectful of their peers, all coaches, and parents. Any CCA athlete not acting in such a manner will be asked to change or stop that behavior. If that athlete fails to comply, they will be asked to leave, and disciplinary procedures will follow.

2.  Athletes will be respectful of teammates’ feelings and personal space.  Swimmers/Divers who exhibit sexist, racist, homophobic, or otherwise inappropriate behavior will be faced with consequences.

3.  CCA athletes will treat all training and competition venues with the utmost respect (including locker rooms). They will put all training equipment in its storage location after each work out. They will assist in the cleanup of the team area after each day’s competition.

4.  Be punctual to all warm-up times and meetings.

5.  CCA athletes will demonstrate good sportsmanship at all practices and meets.

6.  The consumption or purchase of alcohol, smoking or chewing tobacco, or use of any other illegal drug or USOC banned substance of any kind will not be allowed. In addition, any team member found to be in the presence of others (regardless of team affiliation) partaking in any of the above activities will be subject to the same punishments and probable expulsion from CCA. Any swimmer suspected of such activity will appear before a review committee composed of the director, the head coach, the club president, and at least one other CCA board member.

7.  Any damages or thievery will be at the expense of the athletes

8.  I will refrain from foul language, violence, behavior deemed dishonest, offensive, or illegal.

9.  If I disagree with an official’s call, I will talk with my coach and not approach the official directly.

10.  I will set a good example of behavior and work ethic for my younger teammates.

11. I will obey all of USA Swimming’s rules and codes of conduct.

I recognize my responsibility to abide by the rules and requirements of the Colonial Community Aquatics, which I am representing, and I acknowledge that I have received and read such.
