USA Swimming Account Creation

Start the account creation process by clicking the "Create a login" button. Based on your current USA Swimming membership status, please follow the appropriate steps below to create your new USA Swimming account:

Account Creation for Existing USA Swimming Members (e.g.: athletes, officials, non-athlete members)

Even existing members need to create a new account to access their new member dashboard. During account creation, existing USA Swimming members must link to their NEW USA Swimming ID.

You will enter and link to your new USA Swimming ID when you create your new account. Once you have entered and linked your new USA Swimming ID, all historical registration data will be automatically transferred and synced to your new account. This includes items such as times, certifications, Athlete Protection Training (APT) status, Background Check status and account permissions.

Members can request and receive their new USA Swimming ID by following these steps:

  1. Select “Existing Member” when creating your new account.
  2. Request your new USA Swimming ID be emailed to you.
    • This action will send your new USA Swimming ID to the email on file in USA Swimming’s old member database.
    • The email currently on file, that will receive the new ID, may be different than the email entered/used during your new account creation – please check all your email addresses, junk folders, etc.
    • The email on file, that will receive the new ID, may be missing, incorrect or outdated. If you do not receive the email with your new ID, it is likely that your email address is incorrect in the old database. Users that do not receive their new USA Swimming ID via email should proceed to the third step.
  3. If you do not receive an email with your new USA Swimming ID, please reach out to your Club. Your Club Admin has access to search in SWIMS, where they can find and share your new USA Swimming ID.
    • Once you receive your ID from your club, you can proceed with your account creation.

Existing members should not proceed with account creation until they have entered their new USA Swimming ID. Proceeding without linking to your new ID will create an account without any record of membership requirements, certifications, times, etc. and you will not have access to your USA Swimming membership dashboard.

When prompted, chose "Premium" (not "Flex") account.

Account Creation for Users Without an Existing USA Swimming ID (e.g. parents)

Parents or other users who do not currently have a USA Swimming ID number can create a new account. To do so, please follow the steps shown in this video tutorial.

Note: Parents can now create a parent account and link to their children’s membership accounts. The Parent account will not have a USA Swimming membership ID linked to the account but can still link to athlete memberships using the “My Family” feature on their dashboard.

USA Guildelines:

1. Only swimmers in White, Red, Bronze, and Blue & above can participate!

2. Most USA Meets (unless a mini meet) are for swimmers 9 & older. Mini Meets are for swimmers 8 & Under.

3. Deadlines - Swimmers must be signed up before the deadline! Entries are sent to the meet director immediately after RAC's deadline and most meets usually do not accept late entries.

USA meets begin in September and typically run throughout the year through June. USA meets are optional, and require sign-up. They are strongly recommended, particularly for swimmers 9 and over.

Coaches do not sign swimmers up for USA Meets UNLESS it is communicated by the coach beforehand.

SAL times (except for League Champs and certain SAL invitationals) do not count as USA meet times.

USA meets are not just for the fastest or best swimmers.  These meets are for any swimmer who wants the opportunity to compete against others of a similar age and speed.  Such competitions help all swimmers swim faster!

How to Sign Up For a USA Swim Meet

Once a USA or SAL invitational meet has been "posted" to our website (ie: it is ready for sign up), it will appear as an entry under "Swim Meets" at the bottom of the home page or in the “events” section across the top.

To sign your swimmer up:

1. Sign in to your account ("sign in" button is on the left of the home page), using the email you signed up for the team with and your password.

2. Once you are signed in, click "Attend/Decline" for the meet you wish to enter.

3.Click on the button in the upper right hand corner and you will see a list of your registered swimmer(s).

4. Click on the swimmer you wish to enter, and the events for which s/he is eligible will appear.

5. Click on the events you wish to enter, then "register" at the bottom, and you are set.

USA Swimming FAQs

Does it cost anything to swim in a USA Meet?

Yes, typically the cost is between $5-$10 per event to swim at a given meet.

What is a deck entry?

A deck entry means to enter an event the day of the meet. If the team IS accepting deck entries this typically costs $10-$20 cash. If a team is NOT accepting deck entries then your child can only swim the events they signed up for.

What does NT mean next to an event when signing my child up?

If an event has NT next to the event that means your swimmer does not have a time for that event because they have not swam it in a USA meet.

What are qualifying times?

When the event is posted it will say Qualifying Times in the meet description.

Qualifying times mean that swimmers have to have an official time that is faster than (or sometimes slower than) a particular time standard. Official times are those that are swum in USA swim meets;

If a meet has qualifying times and your swimmer IS eligible- the time will be written in black next to the event.

If the time is red that means your swimmer is ineligible for that event.
