Photo/Media Release Statement
By accepting the team handbook through the registration process, the swimmer's parents/guardians thereby assign and grant LAC the right and permission to use and publish the photographs/film/videotapes/electronic representations and/or sound recordings made of them or their child at all LAC activities, and thereby release LAC, the activity coordinators, and all employees, volunteers, related parties, or other organizations associated with the activity from any and all liability from such use and publication. They thereby authorize the reproduction, sale, copyright, exhibit, broadcast, electronic storage, and/or distribution of said photographs/film/videotapes/electronic representations and/ or sound recordings without limitation at the discretion of LAC, and specifically waive any right to any compensation that they may have for any of the foregoing.
Photos/film/video recordings/electronic representations should follow the LAC Photography Policy. Parents/guardians who wish to reject the photo release statement must notify LAC in writing via Contact Us on the team website.
LANCASTER AQUATIC CLUB PHOTOGRAPHY POLICIES
PURPOSE
There has been much talk about whether it is safe to have images taken of children participating in sports. While the great majority of images are appropriate and are taken in good faith, it is a fact that images can be misused, and children can be put at risk if common‐ sense procedures are not observed.
POLICIES
-
The publishing of a photograph or video recording of an LAC swimmer under 18 should only be done with parents’ consent per a waiver signed at registration.
-
A parent or guardian has a right to refuse or withdraw consent to have children photographed. The exercise of this right of refusal cannot be used as grounds for refusing entry into a swimming competition. Parent refusals should be made in writing and sent to the Club President.
In the case of open meets and other competitions where LAC has an official photographer present, all parents attending should be made aware of this in the meet information. If photos are to be published anywhere, the individual parent should be given the opportunity to withhold their consent. Their right to do so should be specifically drawn to their attention.
All photographs must observe generally accepted standards of decency in particular:
-
Action shots should be a celebration of the sporting activity and not a sexualized image in a sporting context.
-
Action shots should not be taken or retained where the photograph reveals a torn or displaced swimsuit.
-
Photographs should not be taken from behind swimming blocks at the start of a race or exhibit a child climbing out of the swimming pool.
-
Photographs should not be taken in locker‐rooms or bathrooms.
