Carl Barr Head Coach

Coach Carl is entering his 20th year of coaching and his 6th year with the Clippers. He started swimming in Western NY and continued through college, then transitioned back to football for a few seasons with the SEFL before coming back to swimming. The developmental track, process and culture around swimming lured him away from the classroom as a teacher and gave him the opportunity to coach full time. He emphasizes injury prevention and goal setting, and especially enjoys the college search process. Coach Carl enjoys meeting and talking with parents and talking "shop". Carl has previous experience working with swimmers who abilities range from the novice to the Olympic level. Carl truly enjoys seeing swimmers progress in the pool and as they develop toward adulthood.

In his spare time, Carl can be found on the paintball field, in the gym or chasing around his two young children. His passion for a good sandwich is perhaps only matched by his passion for the Buffalo Bills.

Lenore Cruz Head Age Group Coach
Coach Lenore started with Clippers team the 2023-24 season. She has swam all of her life, and loves the sport of swimming. She started swim lessons at 4 years old, and then joined the Catonsville YMCA at the age of 6. When Coach Lenore turned 8, she moved to GBSA where she swam until she graduated from high school. Coach Lenore then continued her swimming career in college at Towson University while studying Family Studies (Social Work). After undergraduate school, she continued to further her education while starting her career in coaching in 2006. She coached 4 summers for the CMSL (Central Maryland Swim League) at Woodbridge Valley (2 years) and Roland Run Club (2 years). She also coached for GBSA for 4 years before she took a break from coaching to start graduate school for Occupational Therapy. However, she could not stay away from the pool. Coach Lenore started coaching again in September 2012 at Mariner Swim Club. During her 6 years at MSC, she coached all ages between 8-18, became the Head Age Group Coach, and Business Manager. In 2018, she made the move to Eagles to advance her skills in coaching, and to be able to spend more time with her family. While at Eagles, Coach Lenore brought many fun and creative ideas for the practices she oversaw with the Mini and Bronze 2 groups, became the 10 and Under Director, and the Co-Director of the McDonogh Competitive Swim Camp. She also restarted the Eagles Swim Lesson and Clinic Programs during her time there.

I am very excited for this upcoming swim season with the Clippers! I enjoy critiquing technique while making it fun for young swimmers. I also strive to teach young people life skills that will help them be more independent, respectable people. I hope that they learn a lot and utilize what they learn in everyday life.
