Clippers Swim Team

Columbia Aquatics Association

Maryland Swimming
Level 4

What are volunteer credits?

When you joined the Columbia Clippers, you agreed to help the team by volunteering at swim meets, at other team functions, or in an administrative role (e.g., group parent or board member).  Volunteer credits (also known as "service hours" on the website) are how the team keeps track of your participation.  Generally, you will earn one volunteer credit each time you do a job for the team.  Jobs that have a longer time commitment may earn multiple credits.

How many volunteer credits are required from each family?

The credit requirements are as follows:

  • D1/D2, C1/C2, J1/J2 and S1/S2 must complete 3 credits at swim meets and/or team events.
  • Novice, D3, C3, J3 and S3 swimmers only must complete 2 credits at swim meets and/or team events.

Who can volunteer?

Any family member (age 13 or older) can work to earn volunteer credits for your family.  Clipper’s swimmers who are 15 or older are encouraged to volunteer at a Clippers-hosted swim meet, and these credits count towards the family's requirement.  Responsible family friends can help your family earn credit, too.  Some jobs require adults, but there are jobs for younger volunteers.  Swimmers under 13 may help at meets, but families won't earn volunteer credits for their assistance.  Volunteer positions require your full attention, please do not bring children along when you are volunteering.  If you come with children, you will be turned away and not given your credit. Thank you for your understanding and continued support.

How can I earn volunteer credits?

How do I find out about volunteer opportunities?

Read your email and check the Clippers website! Sign-up for volunteer jobs are done through the website.

How do I sign up for volunteer jobs?

Families can access the job signups through either the Clippers website or Sports Engine Motion app.  Note: you must be logged in to view the opportunities.

How does my family receive credit for volunteer jobs we've worked?

We track every family's volunteer credits (also known as "service hours" on the website) through the team website.  Make sure you check in at the job site each time you do a job so that you get credit for your work.

To find out how many credits your family has earned, log in to the website, click on "My Account" and then choose "$My Invoice/Payment".  If you click on the "Service Hours" tab, you will see how many credits you have completed.

What happens if I don't complete the required number of volunteer credits?

If your family does not complete all required volunteer credits during the swim year, there will be a monetary fine for each credit missed and your swimmer may not be eligible to register for next year's team.

Please remember, it is your responsibility to sign up for jobs and to do the jobs you signed up for.  We’re counting on you!
