Seal Pups To learn all four competitive strokes, starts, and turns, to introduce sport of competitive swimming Beginners, transition from lessons to team, minimum age 5 Can swim 25 yards unassisted, familiar with strokes 3 days a week offered Fins (be sure to write swimmer's first & last name on them!) Encouraged to attend Home and Duel Meets
Gold To build competitive swimming skills, focus on technique work Novice competitive swimmers, minimum age 7 Knowledge of all 4 strokes, starts, turns 5 days a week offered Fins, kickboard and pull buoy Home and Duel Required, local meets encouraged
Age Group To foster competitive spirit and love of swimming, introduce swim training concepts Intermediate competitive swimmers, minimum age 8 Legal in all 4 strokes, starts, turns 5 days a week offered Fins, kickboard and pull buoy Home and Duel Required, 1 local meet per month
Age Group Performance To develop race strategies, grow competitive abilities and stroke technique Intermediate competitive swimmers with an interest in elite level swimming, minimum age 11 2 MSI Winter Champs cut times, ability to read pace clocks & handle training sets 60% attendance requirement, 5 days a week offered Fins, kickboard, pull buoy, hand paddles and snorkel Required: Home, Duel, and all MESI Meets, and New England Swimming meets encouraged
Senior/PreSenior To develop race strategies, grow competitive abilities and stroke technique Swimmers with a competive background looking to continue in the sport at the MESI and out of LSC level, minimum age 13 Legal times in all events, expert knowledge of clock training, pace/interval work, understanding of set structures 60% attendance requirement, 5 practices a week offered Senior - 5 for Pre-Senior Fins, kickboard, pull buoy and hand paddles Home meets required, MESI and New England Swimming meets encouraged
Senior Performance To qualify for and attend national level meets (ie Sectionals, Futures, Juniors, etc.) Fully committed, elite level swimmers looking to qualify for national level meets, athlete has chosen swimming as primary sport/activity Meet and practice attendance demonstrates higher level commitment to goals 80% attendance requirement, 8 practices a week offered Fins, kickboard, pull buoy, hand paddles and snorkel Attendance at all meets on Elite Schedule is mandatory
