Covid Protocol

As we move forward as a USA Swimming Team, I wanted to first thank you all for your commitment.  As the Coach, I want to reassure you that the safety and health of our families and swimmers are of the utmost importance and priority to our club. I am doing all I can to make sure necessary measures are taken to keep athletes safe. To decrease the chance of spreading the Covid virus, swimmers should bring and use their own equipment. If equipment is being used by multiple athletes, we will make sure it will be wiped down in between use.  The district and school require that everyone using their facility must follow their protocols and mask mandates. While indoors, athletes are to practice social distancing, 6 feet apart, and wear masks while not in the water.  Upon entering the building, regardless of vaccination status, masks must be worn covering the nose and athletes must keep them on in the locker rooms until they arrive to their designated practice lanes.

Parents should screen children and themselves before coming to practice to make sure they are fever and symptom free. It is our number one priority to keep the families safe. If someone is exposed or tests positive for Covid they need to inform me. Our team follows the school and county health department protocols which can be found here:  https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/your-health/quarantine-isolation.html

With the weather changing it can be hard to tell if someone has a common cold or if they are positive with the Covid virus since symptoms often mimic each other.  Per the CDC, people with COVID-19 can have a wide range of symptoms. Symptoms may appear 2-14 days after exposure to the virus. Anyone can have mild to severe symptoms which can include:

  • Fever or chills
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • Fatigue
  • Muscle or body aches
  • Headache
  • New loss of taste or smell
  • Sore throat
  • Congestion or runny nose
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Diarrhea

If you experience a fever, or two or more symptoms, please do not return to practice until 72 hours after symptoms have subsided or you have tested negative with a PCR test. Our full COVID protocol can be found on our website.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

Below is also the Oakland County Health Division's School Quarantine Policy which would be applied to our practices in their school district.
