Gator Swim Team Groups

Novice Group

Age Range: 10 & Under

Group Goals: The following is what this group will work on:

  • Legal free and back
  • Introduce fly/breast
  • Learn an open turn
  • Introduce diving & flip turns
  • Streamlining

Move up set: 1x50 Legal Free non-stop, 1x50 Legal Back non-stop

Bronze Group

Age Range: 12 & Under

Group Goals: The following is what this group will work on:

  • Legal 100 IM, All 4 strokes legal
  • Dives and Flip Turns
  • Introducing intervals
  • Introducing competition.
  • This group must be USA Swimming registered

Move up set: 4x100 Free @ 2:15, swim a 100 IM legally

Silver Group

Age Range: 12 & Under

Group Goals: The following is what this group will work on:

  • Stroke technique work
  • Introduce conditioning
  • Continued work on starts and turns
  • Introducing underwater kicking
  • This group must be USA Swimming registered

Move up set: 8x100 Free @ 1:45, swim a 200 IM legally. 5x100 Kick @ 2:30

Gold Group

Age Range: 10 to 14 years old

Group Goals: The following is what this group will work on:

  • Perfecting stroke technique 
  • Learn the difference between aerobic and anaerobic training. 
  • Train in all 4 strokes at high intensity.
  • Introduce heart rate training.
  • Perfecting starts and turns
  • Perfecting underwater kicking
  • Introduce dryland
  • Introduce race training and race strategies
  • This group must be USA Swimming registered

Move up set: 8x100 Free @ 1:25, 6x100 IM @ 1:45, 6x100 Kick @ 2:00

Senior Group

Age Range: 15 and Older

Group Goals: The following is what this group will work on:

  • Aerobic and anaerobic training
  • Dryland training
  • Stroke and race specific training
  • Fine tuning stroke technique
  • Introduce the importance of sports nutrition
  • This group must be USA Swimming registered

 

Senior-Elite
Age Range: 15 and Older
Group Goals: The following is what this group will work on:
  • Aerobic and anaerobic training
  • Dryland training
  • Stroke and race specific training
  • Fine tuning stroke technique
  • Sports nutrition.
  • College Swimming Preparation
  • Goal Setting
  • This group must be USA Swimming registered.
