Photo & Video Policy
PURPOSE
Great Plains Swim Club promotes a safety-focused photography and video policy that protects the integrity and privacy of swimmers and their families. All photographs taken at GPSC and any competition the team attends must observe generally-accepted standards of decency.
While the great majority of images are appropriate and are taken in celebration of the sport, it is a fact that images can be misused and children can be put at risk if policies are not put in place and observed. We stand behind this policy to protect GPSC's swimmers’ decency, privacy, and integrity.
HVSC PHOTOGRAPHY AND VIDEO RULES
-
Action shots should be a celebration of the sporting activity and not a sexualized image in a sporting context.
-
Action shots should not be taken or retained where the photograph or video reveals a torn or displaced swimsuit.
-
Photographs or video should not be taken from behind swimming blocks or exhibit a child climbing into or out of the swimming pool.
-
Photographs or videos should never be taken in locker-rooms or bathrooms.
GPSC PHOTO AND VIDEO PUBLISHING
It is understood that Coaches, employees, swim team parents, and swimmers of Great Plains Swim Club do regularly photograph team members at various practices and meets. These photos are often shared among team parents, swimmers, and coaches and may ultimately be used on promotional materials, or team social media pages.
A parent or guardian of any GPSC Swimmer has the right to refuse refuse to opt out of having their child’s photos/videos taken, retained, and used by Great Plains Swim Club by notifying the board by emailing [email protected]. Opting out of photos/videos cannot be used as grounds for refusing entry into a swimming competition.
