Y Nationals Update, Tuesday July 24th

GCY Swimmers Pieter Brower and Mitchel Cole both final at YMCA Nationals!

After GCY was shut out from finals at short course nationals, Pieter Brower and Mitchel Cole both made sure that would not happen this meet - great job guys!

Here's how we all did - check out these SCORTCHING HOT times from the MAKOS in Atlanta, Ga.!  We are swimming at the site of the 1996 Olympic Games (see the Olympic rings in the photos!).

GCY RESULTS:

Pieter Brower - 18th - 100 meter backstroke - 1:00.98 (HEAT Winner in Prelims!) and 50 meter free - 25.00

Mitchel Cole - 24th - 50 meter breaststroke - 31.42

McKenzie Cole - 50 meter freestyle 26.40 and 50 meter breaststroke 32.05

McClure Brower - 100 meter backstroke 1:03.86 (HEAT Winner in Prelims!) and 200 meter IM 2:23.76 (16th in time trial meet AND new YMCA National cut!)

Jo-Jo Williams - 100 meter backstroke 1:10.71

Laurel Kiselis (just 13 and made Y Nationals!) - 50 meter free - 29.24

Shelly Heim - 50 meter freestyle - 28.53

200 meter Medley Relay (Brower, Cole, Cole, Brower) - 1:56.02

GCY TRIVIA - On the Georgia Tech record board - THERE are pool records held by Michael Phelps, Ryan Locthe, Natalie Coughlin and others!  There is also one record that is also on the same board - and guess what - they are a former GCY SWIMMER!  Can you guess who? 

HINT: You will get a chance to see her swim at the ACC Championships when they come to Greensboro, NC!

USA Swimming has a LIVE video feed to the 2012 YMCA National Championships, and 8 GCY Swimmers are participating! Check out the link below and these 8 swimmers - the meet runs Tuesday - Friday this week and you can watch anytime, even if you miss it live you will still be able to dial in and see the event.
