Coach Connor is serving as
our site coordinator of our Rockingham County groups in Eden and
Rockingham High School.(He was on staff 2010-2016 and has been back
since 2023 after a break pursuing a career in automotive
financing.(During his tenure with GCY Coach Connor worked with a
wide range of swimmers from learn-to-swim fresh out of lessons to
multiple state champions and Y National qualifiers as young as
12.(The YMCA has always felt like home for Connor. He went to the
Ys after school program every year he was in school, spent summers
at Camp Pioneer in High Point, and his first job was a lifeguard at
the Reuter Family YMCA in Asheville. Every member of his
immediate family worked for a YMCA at some point in their lives.
His grandfather folded towels in the 1940s at the High Point YMCA,
his dad recently retired as the CEO of the Goldsboro NC YMCA, and
his stepmother currently serves as the Event Services Manager for
the YMCA of the USA (to name a few).(
Connor works with car
dealerships across the state during the day, helping people finance
their new cars and resides in Reidsville, NC, with his 8-year-old
daughter Skylar and his 2 Australian shepherds, Rollie and
Lalo.(Connor's favorite part of coaching for the YMCA is instilling
the core values first, while teaching competitive swimming second.
His primary goal is to help children graduate our program with
knowing the importance of respecting themselves, their teammates
and others. He is a firm believer that during the time we spend
with children we make a huge impact in the person they become,
which is why he is proud to serve the YMCA of Greensboros swim
team.(
