5 Current GCY Swimmers to be Recognized at NCS Awards Banquet

North Carolina Swimming will hold its Awards Banquet at the Doubletree Hotel (near the NCS campus) at 6:30 pm on Saturday, Sept. 22, 2012.  The guest speaker will be North Carolina swimmer, Charlie Houchin, a recent Gold Medalist at the London Olympics!  We encourage coaches, swimmers, and families to attend.

Tickets to the banquet are $20 and can be purchased online (either PayPal or credit card) at the link on the NCS website posting.

NC Top Five Swimmers, NC All-Stars and NCS National Top Ten Swimmers will be recognized.  Since the banquet has been moved to September, three seasons will be recognized this year; 2011 Long Course, 2011-12 Short Course, and 2012 Long Course.  The attached lists have been compiled for you to review.

Congrats to the following current GCY swimmers who made the list of those who will be recognized:

Pieter Brower
McKenzie Campbell
Craig Herndon
Isaac Klinger
Heather Sigmon (swam for STAR when times achieved)

Here are the current lists from NC Swimming:

The 2011 LC list is based on data from 9/01/2010 – 8/31/2011

The 2011-12 SC list is based on data from 9/1/2011 – 8/01/2012

The 2012 LC list  is based on data from 9/01/2011- 8/20/2012

The first column are all swimmers listed in the NCS Top Five (by double year age group).  The second column are all NCS swimmers who achieved Top Five AAAA or better times in two or more of the following categories: freestyle, sprint freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly, or IM.  The third column include all NCS swimmers who are listed in the USA Swimming National Top Ten for that time period (by single year age group).  Swimmers in the second and third column are named All Stars. Open water All Stars will be added to the list.

Remember:  The NCS Top Fives are based on double year age groups(10U,  11-12,  13-14, 15-16, 17-18).  The NCS Top Ten times list posted on the website are by single year age groups (11-18) so being ranked high on the Top Ten list does not guarantee that a swimmer will be on the Top Five list.
