City Meet Prep Clinics - REGISTRATION OPEN!

All classes are at the Bryan YMCA, with the exception of the last 2 in Session 3, which are at the GAC.  All sessions are led by Head Coach Brad Herndon, former CSA Golden Swimmer who coached 2 Golden Swimmers and 8 separate City Meet medalists in last year’s prep clinics alone! Additional on-deck coaches and swimmers in water helping, including our Head Age Group and NC’s Zone Coach Connor Griffin, former City Meet Golden Swimmers, and current City Meet Record Holders! 

Proceeds go to help fund the GCY MAKOS YMCA National trip to Indianapolis, IN.

SESSIONS:

  • Session 1: June 16-19, 3:30-4:30pm (MON, WED, THUR, FRI)
  • Session 2: June 23-26, 3:30-4:30pm (MON, WED,THUR, FRI)
  • Session 3: July 6-10, times vary (SUN, TUES, WED, THUR) for Session 3, Sunday is 4pm-5pm, Tuesday is 3:30-4:30pm, and Wednesday and Thursday is at the GAC with Championship set-up, times are early afternoon TBA!

COST: $25/$35 per session (members/non-members) 

FREE for Active GCY AG1 and AG2 swimmers (complimentary) - Senior Prep levels and up please attend normal GCY practices for best City Meet Prep!

 

Here are just a few of the type of things we do:
  • Touchpads in the water and talk about best finishes/starts
  • Backstroke and Dive Starts off the blocks
  • Tips and what to do and think about behind the blocks
  • Turns and how they are different in gutter level pools like the GAC and Bryan YMCA
  • How to stay fast underwater through breakout off start and walls
  • Finishes and using the flag distance for finishing in the the other strokes (not just for backstroke).
  • Best body alignment and head position for each stroke.
  • Breathing tips for racing (emphasis on staying fast through the breath phases)
