GCY finishes top 10 at NC Senior Champs!

GCY catches fire at NC 15&Over State Championships!!!

GCY has already established itself at the state level in the 14&under category, but for the first time in known GCY history, we had a top 10 finish at NC Senior Champs!

Multiple podium finishes in a EVERY stroke and nearly EVERY distance PLUS state championship WINS in the 100 backstroke and the 1650 freestyle, what a great moment in Makos history!

NC State Champions:

• Heather Sigmon (100 backstroke) 
• Alex Kreager (1650 freestyle)

NC State Champ Podium Finishes:

• Alex Strasser – 200 Medley Relay
• Gil Cruz – 200 Medley Relay
• Jake Ennis – 200 medley Relay, 100 Breast (57.16, new 2014 Winter Junior National Cut, new Scholastic All-American Cut)
• Andre Richardson – 100 Butterfly
• Heather Sigmon – 100 backstroke AND 200 Backstroke (State Champ, 2014 Winter Junior and Senior Cuts, Scholastic All-American Cuts in both backstrokes)
• Laurel Kiselis – 50 free, 100 free (new Scholastic All-American Cuts in both, only swam 2 days)
• Alex Kreager – 1650 Free (State Champ, only swam 1 day)

We had 28 qualifiers, but only took 21,  as several are concentrating on 14&Under champs this weekend, and several others chose to just do 1-2 days because of the recent HS state champ meets…yet still GCY swum to a top 10 finish!

Very proud of all the swimmers and parents that competed and sacrificed there weekend for some fast swim races!  We have never been approached by so many college coaches and fellow coaches who expressed interest in what was going on at GCY and where did we get all these fast swimmers – GREAT JOB MAKOS!!!

We lost count of the team records that went down….it will take several hours to update the record books online!  Also, important to note, GCY now has 4 swimmers with the Scholastic All-American cuts, Laurel, Heather, Andre, and Jake…and several others who are literally fractions of a second away…
