GCY finishes Top 10 at NC Age Group Champs!

The GCY Makos became 1 of just 7 teams to place top 10 at both NC Senior and Age Group Champs, with some big relay finishes at this past weekends championship meet at the GAC!

50 swimmers represented the GCY Makos, and it took everyone in a closely contested battle with other area teams to come out 10th place amongst the states very best competition!

GCY had another North Carolina State Champion, 10-year old Noah Rock won the 50 Butterfly!   Podium finishes (top 8) included McKenzie Campbell, Davis Hoover, Omega Pinnix, Caroline Cox, Noah Rock, Virginia Gilliland, and Emily Ally.  Also scoring for GCY individually were Agnes Cruz, Ryan Kellum, Alaina Joyce, Jenna Koh, and Felix Zhan!

GCY was led by a record 5 swimmers earning the "Golden Ticket", a top 5 finish and invitation to next month's NC Select Camp.

NC Select Camp Winners:

5. McKenzie Campbell - 100 Breaststroke (GCY's top individual scorer)

This meet for GCY was all about some EXCITING RELAYS!  GCY scored on relays in EVERY age group and category this year!  Thank you to all swimmers that competed and helped bring home a top 10 finish for the GCY Makos!  

GCY had several swimmers who SWAM much better on the relays than they did individually!  In one exciting finish, on GCY's very last event, the 9-10 boys of Brooks Gray, Felix Zhan, Noah Rock, and Aidan Eller swam lights out to our highest relay finish of the meet (4th place overall) to help propel GCY from 11th place to 10th place in one BIG Swim!
