Practice and Meet Updates!

PRACTICE UPDATES:

Just an update on practices...We will have a full schedule out shortly, but ALL sites will keep NORMAL schedules through the end of May.  Beginning June 1st we will MERGE all sites to GAC and Bryan YMCA, and starting June 15th we will start our normal long course schedule primarily at the GAC.  

We call this the 3 phases of long course and here's how it goes:

  1. PHASE 1: Today - May 31st - Practices normal times at normal sites, as scheduled currently, except NO PRACTICES on Memorial Day, Monday, May 25th.
  2. PHASE 2: June 1st - June 14th - All practices at Bryan YMCA and the GAC (Schedule to be released shortly, but it will remain very similar to current schedules with OPTIONS to attend either GAC or Bryan).  City Meet Prep Clinics also start during this time and is FREE to ALL ACTIVE AG1, AG2, and Senior Prep swimmers this year.
  3. PHASE 3: June 15th - End of July - We will announce a specific schedule with groups, but at the GAC we have 630-9:30am daily, 1-3pm daily, and 6-8pm daily, long course at the GAC, plus City Meet Prep Clinics continue at Bryan YMCA that swimmers above may do 3:30-4:30pm through July 9th FREE (we charge for non-GCY swimmers).

I hope this helps to answer alot of your questions - this is purposefully FLEXIBLE, we do not expect you to go to 27 practices a week, but we think this will aleviate crowded lanes and help us continue to train effectively.

MEET UPDATES:
 

Here a couple of upcoming meets and deadlines that you still have a small amount of time to enter OR make changes to...ALL of these meets are listed under the SWIM MEETS TAB with more specific details, this DOES NOT include our July meets, as we still have plenty of time to enter those:

  • Black Heritage Meet on May 23-24 in Cary, NC - DEADLINE is tonight at Midnight if you still want to enter!
  • GCY Strong Kids Meet on May 31 at Bryan YMCA - DEADLINE is day of meet at 1:00pm, we'd like National teams to time!
  • NC Open Water Championships, June 6 in Seven Lakes, NC - DEADLINE is May 18th, GCY had 10 Psodien Swimmers last year, the most in NC!  Ever ran a 5K and been to a swim meet?  This is kind of like going to a 5K that's actually a swim meet!  Distances vary from 1K, 2K, 3K, and 5K.  (The Psodien Swimmers do 2K+3K+5K for a 10K!)  If you've never done this, sign-up, if you have done this, MOST of you are already registered!
  • GCY Sprint and Distance Invitational, June 12-14 at the GAC - DEADLINE is June 1st, ALL local teams have committed to attend!
  • Georgia's Sizzlin Summer Invite and Team Travel Trip, 11&Olders Only, June 18-21 - DEADLINE is Friday May 15th to pick events, Sunday, May 31st to register to attend with at least deposit/intent.  This is a unique opportunity to swim at one of the fastest and most historical pools in the country, typically time standards are required to compete here but ALL GCY swimmers may attend - PLEASE CONSIDER!
  • Eastern Invitational, 12&Unders Only, June 18-21 at the GAC - DEADLINE is tonight at Midnight if you still want to enter! 

Again, this DOES NOT include our July meets, just everything coming up!
