76 x 50's long course meters - over 2 MILES of ALL BUTTERFLY!

We certainly wouldn't encourage this for all swimmers, and only put a whisper in the air of "what if" to a couple of butterfly specialists.....but we wanted to give a GCY "shout out" to 2 swimmers who inspired a team yesterday at High Point City Lake Park!

Congratulations ALEX STRASSER and MCKENZIE CAMPBELL!!!

Traditionally, GCY does 76 x 50's CHOICE to bring in the 4th of July holiday, and all levels do some sort of variation of this set. Well, Alex Strasser and McKenzie Campbell decided to become the FIRST in GCY team history to CHOOSE to do this set ALL BUTTERFLY, OVER 2 MILES!  Coaches gave them opportunities to switch strokes, to prevent injury, pain, suffering, etc....BUT the 2 prevailed, NO 1-ARM DRILL was done!

The most amazing thing though then started to happen.....Caroline Hoover started doing ALL butterfly, and continued, then Leslie Laureno started doing ALL butterfly, next Preston Forst joined in and did all butterfly...by the last 50, ALL 58 GCY swimmers at the practice paid homage to the 2 warriors by doing BUTTERFLY on the last 50!

Great job warriors, an EPIC practice traditionally leads to EPIC results down the road, stay tuned for summer championship RESULTS on the horizon!
