GCY Makos finish Top 10 at NC 14&Under State Championships!

The weekend was highlighted by another individual state championship (Noah Rock), a second place finish (Agnes Cruz), multiple top 3 performances, and literally dozens of top 8 and top 16 swims! The 10&under boys relay made the podium with a bronze medal, led by Brooks Gray (back), John Copeland (Breast), Noah Rock (Fly), and come from behind specialist (passed 4 teams) Jacob Huitsing (Free). Other highlights included top 5 in the age groups scorers Agnes Cruz, Noah Rock, and Emily Ally, and some incredible finals swims by McKenzie Campbell (multiple open/age group team records, new national level cuts, and an incredible 2:22.35 in the 200 butterfly, long course meters, would have finaled for the boys!). We also had a top 10 individual finish from Heat 1 by Aurora Crandford in the 100 fly!
The 12&Under relay records were re-written, and our BEST TIME % was over 95%, the highest I can recall since being here at GCY in a championship meet! In other highlights, too numerous to mention all, Preston Forst climbed to first alternate in more events ever recorded, in a tough age group where it took a state record to win.
I'm leaving out a lot, but wanted to get this news out, I'm late again! Just want everyone to know that this was an incredible GCY! weekend full of some GREAT swims! The team is becoming a powerhouse in one of the most competitive states in the country for swimming - GREAT JOB ALL MAKOS!
